Our curtains may be down but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been working to find ways to keep theater alive! Premiering this fall and powered by Pasadena Playhouse, PlayhouseLive will be a digital hub for high-quality theatrical experiences: Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman shared, As the harsh realities of COVID’s impact on live theater were becoming clear, we began work on a digital hub that would connect the artists and audiences who were reaching out for each other during this challenging time. The Playhouse has historically been an innovator and we continue that spirit on this new adventure in the digital world. This groundbreaking platform will break down the physical boundaries of theater walls and open access to audiences all over the world all while highlighting a wide variety of ideas and diverse voices.

Today we are proud to announce that Pasadena Playhouse has been approved for a $50,000 award from the National Endowment for the Arts as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. This funding will be used to support our personnel relating to digital programming beginning this Fall. Thank you, National Endowment for the Arts! At the start of the current crisis, we began an aggressive fundraising campaign to sustain the Playhouse through this uncertain time while continuing to serve our community. This grant bolsters that effort, helping us reach our goal of employing as many artists and staff as possible while our curtain is down. We thank the National Endowment for the Arts for their support. Danny Feldman, Producing Artistic Director Earl Gibson III

Why must a theater speak out in this moment? We are committed to hearing and telling the stories of our community. We believe in the power of a raised voice, and today we raise ours in support of the fight against the racism and injustice that continues to plague our country. To our Black artists, patrons, employees and friends: your lives matter.... Black lives matter. Pasadena Playhouse
