A challenge to some aspects of the Clean Truck Program by the ATA may be heard as early as next Fall. http://ow.ly/8dzSQ The program has been successful in reducing diesel emissions by 89%, but it has also targeted, perhaps unfairly, independent truckers who aim to do business at the nation's busiest port.

It looks like now is the perfect time to become a truck driver. http://ow.ly/8cImQ A report out of Little Rock, Ark suggests that the industry will face a shortage of drivers into the hundreds of thousands next year which means that there should be jobs aplenty.

WIth the inclusion of the Wingman with ACB system, the Kenworth T800 takes safety to a whole new level. It actively monitors follow distance and adjusts as necessary. http://ow.ly/8bPCf This system claims to help avoid collisions, sounds good to us!

Looks like FMCSA will release the HOS rule just before Christmas weekend. It's looking like driving will be reduced by 1 hour, from 11 to 10 hours a day. Do truckers out there feel like this will improve safety? http://ow.ly/819Hu

With the new safety bill passed FMCSA will have their hands full. The Bill seeks to improve commercial safety by creating a drug and alcohol database and a written proficiency exam for new drivers. On paper these seem like positive things, but trucking associations oppose the bill because it may cut deeply into profits. http://ow.ly/80NbE What do you all think?
