Conversando " Entre Amigos"

May 21st! It’s go to work by bike Day!!!! The first question I ask when I go to a new place is : Can I ride bikes??!! Can I go to the hospital by bike? I moved out of my house at 25 yo. A rarity at the time in Paraguay where you usually move out of the house when you get married! As a new doctor I was making a little over $600 a month. Enough to pay rent, and get a loan for an used car and a bike. I was sometimes so exhausted that I would cry thinking my car was stolen only... to have the security people bringing my bike from a safe place where they kept it ( I couldn’t remember how I made it to the hospital 48 hours earlier ) And I would ride to my apartment feeling the most independent, happiest person in the world. When I made this interview 3 weekends ago, I wasn’t feeling so powerful myself. But life and your purpose when you find it, it’s so much bigger then life and your own struggles. When you teach a kid how to ride a bike, you teach them more then to just ride a bike. You start building confidence in themselves, you teach them to overcome ...obstacles, you show them the beauty and power of independence.
