Welcome to Paradise Signs

The Skyway Welcome to Paradise sign is one step closer to coming back, as of March 16th, 2021 we received a building permit! After tremendous work by many volunteers and through the crazy year of the 2020 COVID pandemic, we have reached another major milestone for the Paradise Sign: Rebuild. We now have a permit to construct the Skyway sign that was chosen by our community! We sincerely thank everyone involved and all of those who have contributed to the project. Specifical...ly, several key partners stepped up to assure the sign rebuild would become a reality. First, a huge thank you to Rotary Club of Paradise for agreeing to become the owner of the sign. Paradise Rotary’s ownership of the sign not only guarantees that the sign will be well maintained for decades to come, but satisfies the County’s requirement that the sign is managed by a viable entity taking on the ownership responsibilities required when a structure is built on Butte County property. Next, thank you to Paradise Recreation and Park District for agreeing to work directly with Paradise Rotary on the future upkeep and maintenance of the sign, as well as management of the community organization medallion program. These stewardship partners will ensure that the Welcome to Paradise sign will never fall into disrepair. Finally, thank you to Butte County for helping to guide the process to restore the sign mere feet from its original location. The restoration of this pinnacle of Paradise pride involved collaboration across multiple entities, contributions from the sign builder (Hupp Signs & Lighting, Inc), designers, engineers, surveyors and of course, Butte County jurisdictional agencies. Commitment from all stakeholders ensures that this beacon of our community can once again stand officially and proudly for generations to enjoy. Hello, All Friends of the Paradise Sign Rebuild Site! Today our update is to first thank everyone for their support and patience as we navigate through the permitting process with Butte County. We are at the final stages and are hopeful that we will have permit in hand around the 1st of the year. As soon as the sign permit is in hand, we will update everyone again about the bidding and build process, where we will be requesting bids from licensed and bonded Contractors Hup...p Signs from Chico has agreed to oversee the project so all bids and logistics will be routed through Hupp Signs Thank you Joe Hupp and Team!! (we will be providing the bid scope list on the post, that will also include opportunities to donate materials or fabricated products). Again, we thank all who have donated services and funds to date to make this sign happenITS BECAUSE OF YOU THE PARADISE SIGN WILL RISE AGAIN! Last Friday, several Sign Committee members had the first collaboration meeting with Butte County Public Works to discuss final location of the Skyway Sign. Next step will be to finalize the plans and submit to Butte County for permitting. We have also received pledges from a ready-mix company for the concrete in the Sign base and also a local company will mill the cedar for the upright inlays from timber harvested in Paradise after the Camp Fire. As we move forward, any ple...dges of needed materials or services will allow us to carry the donated dollars further towards future sign maintenance and also the Clark Road sign. The Skyway Welcome to Paradise Sign continues to move forward! We are currently finalizing the construction engineering plans for submittal to Butte County, which should submitted within the next couple weeks!! We are truly grateful for services and donations from local businesses who have generously donated they’re services to assist with the sign rebuilding process, please see our update below: -Paradise’s Own - Rancho Engineering for providing structural engineering servi...ces. -Paradise’s Own - Anderson Brothers Construction completed debris removal of the Skyway Sign. -Design and Drawings BFLA (Brian Firth Landscape Architects) Chico. -Site Surveyed - NorthStar Engineering NorthStar in Chico - Chico. We are also pleased to announce that through a special grant and North Valley Community Foundation North Valley Community Foundation and the Butte Strong Fund, we have received a $50,000.00 grant to help with the construction costs for both signs (Skyway and Clark Road). We will soon be ready to reach out to the Contractor community for assistance, through volunteerism, subcontractor bids and other construction related needs, so please stay tuned!! Hello and Happy Holidays friends of the Paradise sign rebuild community! Thank you all for your votes and input to finalize the sign design. We are pleased to announce that Rancho Engineering from Paradise has agreed to donate their engineering services to assist Brian Firth Landscape Architects with the final construction plan and engineering process. We expect these plans to be complete in the next 1-2 months. Following the final construction planning process, we will be ...submitting for the building permit for the Skyway sign which is on Butte County property (the Clark Road sign remains on hold due to it is on private, not public property and we are still seeking approvals) we expect permits for the Skyway sign in 1-2 months all systems are a go to meet both of these goals. Our goal will be to construct the Skyway during the Summer of 2020 once funding allows us to move forward. Once the final construction documents are complete, we then will be able to firm up the final cost to complete each sign through a formal bidding process. Both signs will be reconstructed using only private donations and volunteer/donated labor and materials, no tax payer funds will be used. We are excited to say that we have received approximately $12k of donated funds to date! (Our initial target estimate-donation for both signs will be $100 to $150k, which we hope to reduce significantly through locally donated, materials and labor). With the year ending, there are two days remaining to contribute to the Paradise Sign Rebuild fund to obtain your tax deduction for 2019. Hello All! Many thanks to Paradise Ridge residents for providing input on the new welcome signs to be constructed on the Skyway and Clark Road at the gateways to Paradise. The Sign Committee is pleased to announce that its public engagement process has yielded a winner!! Brian Firth Landscape Architect, Inc, from Chico, received the majority vote with its option B by a margin of 17 percent....
