Project Highlight: LinkedIn Campus in Sunnyvale, CA Overview: PARADIGM worked with Studios Architecture and LinkedIn to completely renovate an existing one-story, 40,000gsf former warehouse into a flexible, highly energy efficient and sustainable workplace.

FivePrime Therapeutics selected PARADIGM Structural Engineers for their Tenant Improvement of this new HCP Life Science Campus. This 115,466 gsf office and laboratory space located at 111 Oyster Point Drive in South San Francisco included new offices, laboratories.

One of the most effective ways to protect a building during seismic events is passive energy dissipation through the use of Fluid Viscous Dampers (FVD’s). A Fluid Viscous Damper is essentially a shock absorber for the building that increases the structure’s damping which in turn, reduces building drifts and the accelerations at each elevated floor. A building that incorporates Fluid Viscous Dampers into its lateral force resisting system is able to achieve performance levels that far exceed the requirements of the building code, helping to protect the structure, its occupants, and its contents. Project Highlight: Marvell Technology Group in Santa Clara, CA To limit the building response to ground motions and allow the building to achieve the desired performance objectives of Immediate Occupancy, PARADIGM included a passive energy dissipation system consisting of fluid viscous dampers (FVDs). The inclusion of the fluid viscous dampers in two adjacent office towers allowed the owner to add a new 75,000 gsf tower between the two existing towers while eliminating the loss associated with a new enhanced lateral force resisting system in the new building.
