Something new is growing quite well at PapayaTreeNursery! It is called "Phalsa Berry" or "Sherbet Berry". They look like little blue berries but with more flavor! Our display plant has a few hundred fruit this year. Harvest started approximately one month ago. If you're from Pakistan, you most likely know what this is. It's my new favorite fruit. Please call for more info.
Hello folks, we have been harvesting a unique variety of jambolan fruit these last few weeks and are offering grafted plants of the same variety that can begin producing fruit in as early as three years. Fresh fruit samples are also offered. Please call if interested.
Third time fruiting of Jaboticaba this year! #papayatreenursery
This Bountiful Harvest variety of Rio Grande Cherry is a delicious treat. It is drought tolerant once established, and enjoys full sun. Please come by and have a taste in May, when in season at the Papaya Tree Nursery!
Picking fresh bananas on Christmas Day! Who would of guessed that could happen in the San Fernando valley. This variety is named Monthan.
Happy Hannukkah, Merry Christmas, Joyful Festivus and a Happy & Healthy New Year to you all!
Here are few shots of a delicious(one of my favorites)dessert banana named 'Dwarf Brazilian'. It is almost identical to the famous "Apple" finger type banana of Hawaii. These photos were taken at the nursery just a few weeks ago. I include them to show that if you follow a few relatively simple rules, you can also grow high-quality, gourmet dessert bananas right in your own backyard! Consider that these were grown in the San Fernando Valley...not exactly a "Banana Belt" clima...te zone with its dry/hot summers and relatively cold winters. Also, if you're thinking it inappropriate because of the current drought conditions, that banana plant is watered exactly the same as an orange tree...no more, no less. A high percentage of banana plant roots are very shallow- rooted and do jot require high-volume, deep watering To get the same results pictured above. again, all you need to do is follow a few simple rules. If interested, please feel welcome to call and visit the nursery. Hope to see you there! See more
We are currently harvesting a large fall crop of organically grown fresh miracle fruit now available for purchase! If you know anybody who might be interested in locally grown, very freshly (same-day) picked, California Miracle fruit from a small family owned nursery, please feel welcome to contact me. Only 275 fresh fruit will be offered in the next few weeks.
Here are a couple photos taken not 10 minutes ago of a fruit from Africa called the miracle fruit. These little red fruit (about an inch long), after eating, will change your perception of flavor most notably making anything sour become sweet!!! For more details go to papayatreenursery.com. Hope to see you there.
With all this hot weather, try spreading a 3" thick layer of mulch under your fruit trees using one of the following bagged products: Grow-Mulch, Organic Compost and N-Rich. Doing so will encourage plant growth and help save water. Have fun growing!
Harvested our second largest Canistel/Eggfruit yet...11.3 ounces! Not bad for The San Fernando Valley!
A little piece of Hawaii. Check out this plumeria waterfall.
