Good Afternoon, It has been wonderful to have everyone back into the pool today! We are nothing but grateful for the water and to see the transformation that takes place when we get to use it in a way that frees us up to be great! We are aware of the new guidelines that have been put into place in Santa Clara county. We wanted to take a moment to recognize what is going on in the community and update you on our operations.... We are aware of the steps that the county has taken to curb Covid -19 throughout the Bay Area and we applaud them for making difficult decisions to continue to save lives. We, as a company, will always align with guidelines set forth to ensure the safety of the community and staff at large. At this time, our operations will continue to stay open and operate as we have been. The guidelines state that outdoor pools can still operate under the same restrictions. This is really great news for the entire aquatic community! We are excited to serve and keep this going for as long as we can for the health and wellness of everyone! Operating under the fact that the virus is still here and very active among the community, we would like to take a moment to remind us all of what we need to continue to do to remain open and keep everyone safe and healthy. Please: 1. Wear a mask at all times. Unless swimming in and around the facility 2. Stay socially distant from all at least 6 ft. Including when checking in to the facility. Please line up on your lane number to ensure we are all giving each other space. 3. Please be kind and caring to all. If someone needs a reminder of the rules or something seems out of place, let a staff member know and we will address the situation. Also, if you do end up saying something to someone please be kind, patient and understanding. This is a challenging time for everyone. 4. We are staying 1 person per lane without exception. Thank you all for being a part of the community in a positive way! We can all support each other and stay healthy. It is truly an honor to serve every person who comes to the pool. We look forward to having a great and safe swimming environment for months to come and look forward to seeing all of you!! Blessings - Palo Alto Swim and Sport Staff

Good Afternoon Palo Alto!!! We have wonderful news for all!! The heater is back in action. We will be closed tomorrow (Friday, December 4th) as the pool heats up to normal temperature. We apologize for the delay in the repairs and will look at shortening these types of closure for the future. To address a few items that many of you have emailed asking about:... 1. Credits: Monthly Members; you will receive a week of swimming credit to your next billing cycle Drop-in reservations: you will receive a refund for your single reservation 2. We will be working with the city to come up with some planning to prevent long heater closures in the future. 3. The failure was a gas valve that was challenging to get and had difficulties with installation. We truly know how important swimming is to the community and to us and we are excited to get all of you going again. We will resume operations on Saturday, December 5th. I know our staff will sleep much better knowing that the community will be back in the pool. We appreciate you and look forward to seeing you this weekend. Thank you! -Palo Alto Swim and Sport Staff

Rinconada Closed Thurs/Fri (12/3 - 12/4) Good Evening Palo Alto Community, Thank you all so much for your kindness and patience during not only this time, but so many other times as well. We are excited of getting back to some normal operations and getting you back into the pool. ... As of now, the new part has been installed and we have been actively working with the public works to rectify the heater issues. However, we have encountered some other parts that need attention. At this time the heater is still non operational. We should have more answers around noon time tomorrow. At this time the pool temp is down to 65 degrees and it will take some time to get the pool back up to temperature once we get the heater back to heating. For now we can be grateful there is light at the end of the tunnel and we have many people working towards getting the pool back in action. We truly appreciate you all and are looking forward to seeing you soon. Again you can expect an update on the status of the heater tomorrow sometime in the early afternoon. Also be on the lookout for our December newsletter that will discuss our new registration system and what is to come for 2021. We are honored to serve the community of Palo Alto and we are dedicated to serve the community as much a humanly possibly. Thank you all again for your patience during this time. More info to come tomorrow. -Palo Alto Swim and Sport Staff

This morning we lost power to the Rinconada facility. It appears the whole neighborhood is also effected by the outage as well. At this time, we don't not have a timetable from PG&E for when the repairs will happen. For the time being, Rinconada is closed until further notice today (Sunday, Nov 8). Staff is on standby. We will keep you posted with any updates. Thank you,

Hello Everyone, I hope this message finds everyone well and happy to be in the water! I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to have some consistent days of normal operations and I'm sure you feel the same way. We have come a long way as a community and continue to have success because of the support of each other. I would like to thank all of you for adhering to the guidelines as much as possible while using the aquatic facility! I would like to take a moment and remin...d everyone of a few operations and safety Items. As I have told staff from the beginning it is actually much easier to follow the guidelines in the beginning of these type of events. It's the long term that is harder to comply with. We have been noticing a majority of the community members adhering to the guidelines that are required. However, we have been noticing more and more people starting to become relaxed around the pool with some of these guidelines. This is no fault to anyone as it is human nature to have this happen. I have needed to remind myself to stay on the ball as it is imperative that we are all working together to keep us all safe and most importantly healthy. If staff says something to you regarding any of the following guidelines please be kind and willing to follow what they are asking of you. Guidelines 1. Wear a mask while you enter and exit the facility 2. Social Distance 6ft and more if possible 3. Please follow the flow of traffic through out the facility These items are non-negotiable and are in place for everyone's safety. At the end of the day it shows care for those around you and yourself. A few other things we really need your support on 1. Please no deck changing 2. Please place your things near your lane cone 3. Please be timely on exiting on your way out of the pool by listening for the whistle. Do not ignore the guards to get in a few extra laps. This has become more and more of an issue and we do not want to be pool police. We want to keep it kind and welcoming while supporting each other so we can all share the wonderful resource of the pool. As we go through the months ahead we may need to change the way we operate due to weather and other issues that might arise. We are working on plans to keep your things dry, but it may rain before we can get things into place. Please be prepared for this as we need everyone to still follow the guidelines when it rains. As we go along I will keep you updated as we make changes to improve as always. I can not begin to tell you how I have appreciated everyone's support during these times with your kind words and help to ensure we are all safe, healthy and swimming. This is a reminder for us all, including me, and this pandemic is not over yet. I truly care for all of you and know we can do this! If you have any questions or concerns please reach out! Thank you all!!! - Steve

Good Evening Aquatic Community! We had such a wonderful day today! It's looking like we may be in for a wonderful week of swimming with an easterly wind blowing; so smoke is not in our back yard for some time. Our hearts and minds are still with everyone up north. We are still working on partnering with a few organizations to help respond. Unfortunately with the pandemic, it has been very difficult to find a way for us to be called into action, but I am hopeful we will have... some action items soon. Tomorrow (Monday, October 5th) we are open at Rinconada and I look forward to seeing everyone! We are already into October and this is literally my favorite time of year. It always starts beginning to feel like change is upon us in Fall. Plus there are so many cool aspects of Fall that I love.... Carving pumpkins being one of them... never stop being a kid. With a hopeful and grateful heart! - Steve

Good Evening All, I hope everyone is doing well tonight. At this point the smoke is just too bad for it to change by morning. With current weather patterns I don’t see much change for now. Sleep well and I will update around 10:00am tomorrow morning (Friday, October 2nd). I know for me, I’ve been trying to use the Calm App in the mornings. Hard at first, but a great habit to start! By no means do I get a kick back from Calm for this plug! Ha, full transparency, but it’s a gr...eat way to focus on good things! More goodness tomorrow. Gratefully and take care - Steve

Morning Aquatic Community, I hope this message finds you well this morning. As you all can see we are in the middle of some high numbers and some numbers that we could barely open with. The way the wind looks like its going we should be able to open in a few hours. I hope you are able to stay in bed little longer or enjoy the morning with a cup of something good. We will be closed until 10:00am at Rinconada this morning and reevaluate then.... More communication to come as soon. We will try to open as soon as possible so stay tuned. - Steve

Palo Alto Swim & Sport 30.06.2020

Good Evening Everyone, I know everyone has missed my morning, mid morning, afternoon and nightly communications... so we are back at it once again! I know this is such a bummer for us that we had to close this afternoon. It's a tough year with so many people impacted on so many different events merging upon us. This one particularly hits me hard as I used to live in St. Helena and know many people impacted by this fire. My heart breaks for them and those in the other fires as... I had many friends and family in those. I am sure many of you are in the same situation of knowing people and having wonderful memories in some of these magical places. I am acutely aware that during these times of deep trials locally, in our country and world are extreme, but there is hope. I am reminded of redwood trees. These tree have seen the best and worst of the world but somehow find a way to survive and still look stunning (FANCY). Some of you may know this about these trees, but they have shallow roots and for such a huge tree this would sound like they would topple very easily. Although they have shallow roots they look for other trees like them and join up to stay strong; interweaving themselves to withhold thousands of years of fires and storms. To me, this is amazing. If we as a community hold on to each other and face things big and small together we will over come these obstacles. We will look back and be grateful for the tree next to us that helped us get through. Some of us might get a few scares, but scares are cool. Ask all the kids. We have this moment in time as another opportunity to support each other and I truly hope you take the opportunity to lock in roots with those around you and weather these storms together. We will be at the pool when we can with a joyful and grateful heart! Tomorrow am I will send out an email at 5:00am to let you know if we will be open. Fingers crossed. Blessings to all of you - Steve
