Beware of vaccine scams! If someone offers to sell you the COVID-19 vaccine or a chance to get vaccinated before it's your turn, it's a SCAM. #PalmdaleCares

It has come to our attention that there is some confusion about Measure AV on the November ballot in Palmdale. It is NOT in any way related to the Measure AV th...at was on the March ballot for Antelope Valley Hospital. This measure is for Palmdale and would provide locally-controlled funding the State and County cannot touch. If approved by Palmdale voters, Measure AV would authorize a three quarter cent sales tax, providing funds to support 911 emergency response times, safe & clean parks, street maintenance, programs to help small businesses, veterans, youth and seniors, and addressing mental illness and homelessness. A BIG THANK YOU to Kids Feeding Kids (KFK) for their generous donation to SAVES. KFK, a program dedicated to helping the hungry in the Antelope Valley, gave 4,4...00 pounds of pork which will provide quality farm-to-table protein for SAVES clients. KFK is comprised of Antelope Valley youth who participate in 4-H, Grange, FFA, and Independent Livestock, who raise and then sell quality animals at the Antelope Valley Fair and Alfalfa Festival Kiwanis Jr. Livestock Auction which typically takes place during the week of fair. Due to the continued COVID-19 event restrictions, for the first time in 65 years the Annual Kiwanis Jr. Livestock Auction was held as a virtual event spanning over seven days with add-on donations running for a total of 10 days. #PalmdaleCares #MeasureAVPalmdale

Today is National Food Bank Day! South Antelope Valley Emergency Service (SAVES) has been on the forefront of local food distribution for 37 years! Working with a variety of local partners, SAVES is a reassuring presence to families experiencing food insecurity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, SAVES has expanded its distribution to assist those severely impacted by job loss, reduction in hours, and illness. SAVES acquires food through the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, local r...etailers and most recently the USDA. Days after the emergency declarations were imposed, SAVES opened its doors with a drive thought model designed to reduce physical contact. In the period of March 16 through July 31, SAVES has distributed 1,867,971 pounds of food giving out 14,639 food orders directly and another 17,452 order through partners including, Legacy Commons, St. Vincent de Paul, SALVA, Mayflower Gardens, and Four Square Church, Pearblossom. Additionally, SAVES has partnered with CalRecycle and has rescued 400,491 pounds of food from local vendors that would otherwise have gone to waste. See more
