From visits to medications to devices, managing type 1 diabetes includes navigating health insurance coverage and the financial challenges of chronic illness. Join Samantha Markovitz, NBC-HWC and Dr. David Ahn of the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center for an overview of need-to-know information that will help you better choose, understand, and maximize your health insurance coverage in the coming year. The topic will be approached with the patient perspective in mind to answer... your questions while helping you reduce out-of-pocket costs and get the most out of your insurance so you can focus on your health. This session is open to patients of all ages. Please note: this discussion will NOT include government-sponsored insurance plans (eg. Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Tricare or Medi-cal) due to their unique restrictions/limitations. As an alternative, Hoag offers general Medicare information classes, available at hoag.org/community-education-classes/medicare-classes2/ This class will be hosted via Hoag's YouTube channel.
