Drum roll, please. Introducing Oxnard’s first-ever Shoebox Parade, a collection of homemade parade floats built on shoebox foundations. We’ve got glitter. We’ve got sparkle. There’s music and even commentary. And, of course, you know who commands the final spot (hint: he’s dressed all in red). So settle in to watch as we reinterpret the most wonderful time of the year in this most unusual year of all time. And if you like today’s parade, just wait. Due to this morning’s high wind and the amount of debris, we encourage everyone to stay safe. This morning’s Tai Chi class at Oxnard State Beach Park has also been cancelled. Our next FREE Tai Chi class is scheduled for Tuesday at 1pm at Del Sol Park Stadium.

As this year draws to a close, our Homework Help Centers remain open through December 21 for students who need assistance with school work. Reserve a free spot now for your learners to receive the guidance they need at one of the four available sites. Participants must pre-register on-site or at oxnardrec.org. Townkeeping Thursday: City Corps continues with the inspection and maintenance of over 3,000 citywide catch basins, in collaboration with Public Works’ Wastewater Division.

This winter, Oxnard REC is hosting a FREE youth basketball skills challenge. Following all current Ventura County public health guidelines and protocols, we are excited to safely transition our youth back into basketball. This program offers youth three 1-hour training sessions leading up to our new Basketball Skills Challenge.
