Happy International Women’s Day! Back in 2017, I would not have believed you if you told me I’d become an esthetician and lash artist. I was working a corporate desk job making decent money,but not a job I cared much about. I’ve always been more of a creative interested in music or beauty, but it wasn’t something I thought I’d make into a career. I went to college and got my bachelors and masters degree and thought I’d work a good paying job until I retire. Well in 201...8, I met a great lash artist beginning to teach the craft. My sister had also just finished the training and I had another friend with a successful lashing business so I was interested in this being another stream of income. I fell in love with it and all the positive reactions from clients. I became very unhappy with the corporate culture and the oppression if I’m being quite honest. Corporate, in my experience, is not a great place for women and mothers, especially black mothers. My job stopped offering the flexibility I needed in order to be a mother and have a work life balance. After lashing for about 6 months, I departed from my corporate job to be a full time last artist pursue an esthetician’s license and I haven’t looked back. It’s been very rewarding and not to mention the flexibility of working for myself is great! I love being in control of my day, my life, and my future. I chose the name Out Lashed because I’m dedicated to finding the best retention techniques for my clients as well as the best looks. I’m also a very patient, observant, and understanding person. I have big dreams for Out Lashed. I’m planning on building a brand and expanding my services in the near future so stay tuned! I welcome you to come along and follow my journey.
