Black History Month is a time for celebration. Throughout the month, we’re shining a light on some of our incredible retailers and members of Partner to Empower, a program that provides funding and resources to Black- and minority-owned businesses looking to open a store here or at our sister malls. First up, our chat with Valerie Thomas, the fabulous owner of Clay Luxury Kids a unique kids’ fashion experience with designer brands from all over the world located at Perimet...er Mall in Atlanta! We asked Valerie how being a Black business owner has impacted her community. I'm able to create opportunities for others while also living my dream, and most importantly, making a positive impact on society. Being a Black business owner gives young Brown girls, boys, teens, and even adults that piece of hope that they too can achieve! Being a Black woman in business, I always strive to break the stereotypical barriers many place on Black-owned businesses. This Black History Month, we’re highlighting Black artists who continue to inspire us. So we asked the talented Yetunde Sapp what inspires her. Her response, I am inspired by the world around me, the people, the color, the culture, and try to incorporate that into my work when I can. I saw this quote once that read, ‘I am my ancestors wildest dreams’ and I feel that whole-heartedly. The path that they took to get where they were going has made way for me to believe in my own future and that, to me, is amazing.
