Hi everybody. For the locals (Ranchita, Borrego, Warner), we will soon start our market research into feasibility of providing alternate power source to residents and businesses during high power use, fire danger, high wind, seasons. Might launch a survey like we did for our digital divide effort. But for now, please free to provide any helpful input or suggestion.
All caged up. Can somebody identify this tree? I don't know. This is what happens when I ask Mike to pick up a couple of trees I ordered from a seller. Seller turns out to be a former professor basically growing a tropical habitat in middle of San Diego using recycled greywater. They both got so lost in there excitement and conversation I end up with a bunch trees I didnt order and alot missing name tags . But its ok, great learning about this professor and his inventions to help grow food and conserve resources . We keep in touch....since I still want the trees I never received
Lone joshua tree in Ranchita. These agave can populate by seed dispersal or cloning. Cloning is more typical in the higher elevations. Ranchita is about 3600-4000 ft. Mystery how this one got here and its all alone. And this is a big one, age is hard to predict on these because it dependant on elevation, soil, climate, rain etc. But I would think this has to be more than 100 years old. Average is said to be 150 yr but there mention of 1000 yr. Either ways this tree is too cut...e, reminds me of the Lorax movie. Its illegal to plant without a permit. Like taking seeds or cuttings from the wild, parks. But this isnt wild, its on private property. Still have to wonder why its all by itself. Nature has a way to telling you things if you care to see and understand. Same with our orchard project, making some changes to our plans. For the sake of the local wildlife and how things are meant to be. See more
I appreciated working with the District. Our efforts has just begun. Do what you can with what you have. Some of us have money, time, creativity, or connections. Whatever it is to try to make life a little bit better for someone else. Do something
Thank you . Now on to the next issue.
