We will notify all residents at the time Glenn County is under a State Stay at Home Order. (If you received an emergency alert on your cell phone, it is because you are near a border with Butte or Colusa counties.) There is local concern and uncertainty regarding the curfew order from the California Department of Public Health and what it means for our community. Our officers will not be using this new tool for determining compliance with, or enforcing compliance of any health orders. Dispatch will not be sending officers or deputies for these types of calls. We will continue focusing our efforts on criminal activity and relying upon probable cause when making criminal arrests, and ...as a reminder we do enforce park hours and noise ordinances. Our Northstate hospitals have been greatly impacted by the recent surge of hospitalizations and bed space is at a premium. We feel the best way to protect our hospital capacity is for our community to practice personal responsibility to limit potential exposure and slow the spread. Some frequently asked questions answered by the State are: Q: What am I allowed to do between 10 PM and 5 AM? Can I pick up a gallon of milk at midnight, pick a prescription or put gas my car? A: Yes. Essential activities are permitted as are activities you do alone or with members of your immediate household like walking your dog. Although Californians are highly encouraged to stay indoors from 10 pm and 5 am, the public health order does not prohibit individuals or members of the same household going outside so long as they don’t mix with other households. Q: Is this order asking businesses to close between 10 pm and 5 am? A: Non-essential businesses, those that are NOT defined as critical infrastructure, should end business operations at 10pm. Essential work is permitted to continue and food and beverage takeout services are still permitted. Q: Can I still get takeout or food delivery? A: Yes, restaurants can stay open for takeout and delivery after 10 pm Further information can be found on the California Department of Public Health website: https://www.cdph.ca.gov///Pages/Immunization/ncov2019.aspx and on the Glenn County Department of Public Health website: www.countyofglenn.net/covid19 On behalf of the men and women of the Orland Police Department I wish everyone a fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday, please don’t drink and drive and have a safe holiday. PRESS RELEASE Marijuana Transportation October 1, 2020 Case 20-0541... JOE VLACH Chief of Police On Wednesday September 30th, 2020 at about 7:55 pm Officer Roenspie and his K9 partner Dutch were returning to Orland when they found a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 towing a horse trailer that did not have any running or brake lights. An enforcement stop was made and driver Oscar Estrada, 43, of Berry Creek was contacted. During the stop, Estrada admitted to having around 80 pounds of marijuana in the trailer and a large amount cash on his person. Inside the vehicle Officer Roenspie located a switchblade knife with an approximate eight-inch blade inside the driver’s door. The Glenn County Major Crimes Task Force arrived and took over the case. Officers located eleven large trash bags full of processed marijuana inside the horse trailer, two of which had been separated into one-pound bags. Estrada was found to have $12,008 dollars in cash on his person. Officers also located a methamphetamine pipe during a detailed search of the vehicle. The vehicle and contents were turned over to the Task Force for their investigation. Estrada was arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail for 11358 H&S, 11359 H&S, 11360 H&S, and 21510 PC. In July, the Orland Police Department received a generous grant from the Barceloux-Tibessart Foundation for the purchase of new AED equipment. With the funds from this grant, we were able to purchase 3 new AEDs and replacement AED pads for existing AED units, which recently arrived and was put into service. With this new equipment, Officers are better equipped to respond to medical calls for service and provide aid until an ambulance can arrive to take over. A huge THANK YOU to the Barceloux-Tibessart Foundation at https://www.barceloux-tibessart.org/
