Orland PD K9 Unit 08.12.2020

PRESS RELEASE Marijuana Transportation October 1, 2020 Case 20-0541... JOE VLACH Chief of Police On Wednesday September 30th, 2020 at about 7:55 pm Officer Roenspie and his K9 partner Dutch were returning to Orland when they found a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 towing a horse trailer that did not have any running or brake lights. An enforcement stop was made and driver Oscar Estrada, 43, of Berry Creek was contacted. During the stop, Estrada admitted to having around 80 pounds of marijuana in the trailer and a large amount cash on his person. Inside the vehicle Officer Roenspie located a switchblade knife with an approximate eight-inch blade inside the driver’s door. The Glenn County Major Crimes Task Force arrived and took over the case. Officers located eleven large trash bags full of processed marijuana inside the horse trailer, two of which had been separated into one-pound bags. Estrada was found to have $12,008 dollars in cash on his person. Officers also located a methamphetamine pipe during a detailed search of the vehicle. The vehicle and contents were turned over to the Task Force for their investigation. Estrada was arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail for 11358 H&S, 11359 H&S, 11360 H&S, and 21510 PC. A bail is not yet set for Estrada.

We would like to thank Super Shopper Auto Sales for their generous donation. They learned that we had to cancel all of our fundraisers this year and they wanted to help keep the K-9 program running. It's great business and citizens in our community that keep our program going.

The Orland PD K-9 Unit regrets to announce that we will be canceling this year’s Laws & Paws Music Festival. With Glenn County having a rise in Covid-19 cases, we felt that it was the safest option. The music festival is our main source of revenue for our donation funded K-9 program. Without the festival revenue our program is having to tap into reserves, which is not a viable long-term solution. Anyone who would like to make a donation to the K-9 program can do so by mail, ...online at: https://nvcf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create?funit_id=1802 or can contact our K-9 program officers through the Orland PD K9 Unit page on Facebook. We also have shirts, sweatshirts, stuffed k-9’s, hats and challenge coins for sale as well. We greatly appreciate the support we have received from the Orland community since the program began 10 years ago, and we hope to see you all at next year’s Laws & Paws Music Festival. See more

Giving Back to the Badge Glenn County came by the PD this morning with a mountain of goodies for all of the Officers. It is so nice to see the out pouring of support from our great community for all of our first responders. A special thank you to Brittany Stidham and Renee Drake for spear heading the effort.
