The Orland Art Center is thrilled to announce its post-pandemic re-opening with an Artists Reception, Friday, June 4th from 3:00-7:00 p.m. for the June - July show, "The Drama of Difference", featuring the visual art of Jeff Crago, Mary Amicarella and Roberta Stone. These three dynamic artists fill the gallery with work that is vastly different in subject matter, size, and artistic technique. Visit with these fine artists at the Artists Reception while you enjoy their work and live music performed on our baby grand piano by talente young musician, Hayley Wiedeman. Remember, the Orland Art Center Show and Sale ALWAYS features original art, quality prints, and delightful fine art cards in wide price range. Due to the COVID situation, The Orland Art Center is currently placing our future shows on hold until later in the year. This includes the one titled "The Drama of Difference." These shows previously scheduled will all occur, but at later dates in the year, more likely June and July. This also includes the special events previously scheduled. We do this out of an abundance of caution, so our artists can be better served by having their work seen at later dates as considerable... progress continues to be made on the prevention and treatment of this virus. Please bear with us, as we reschedule, and check this Events page from time to time for updates. We will have wonderful exhibits and special events once again in the near future. Thank you for understanding and supporting this amazing gallery in the Orland area.

The Orland Art Center's new show, "Presents from Paradise," opens this Friday, December 4th from 3:00-7:00 pm. This show features the work of three artists, Lynn Miller, Kathleen Presentati, and Barbara Anne Ramsey, who were directly affected by the devastating Camp Fire, November 8, 2018. Just over two years later these three artists join their talents to celebrate the resiliency of the human spirit and the healing power of art. To add to the celebration, Tom Mercer will als...o grace the gallery with his original jewely creations. As always, all the artwork on display for this show is for sale. This is the perfect opportunity to purchase a meaningful and beautiful holiday gift. Several of the artists will be present for the opening of the show, December 4th from 3:00-7:00 pm. Meet the artists while you admire their work in our beautiful gallery decorated for the holidays and enjoy Michael Reyna's piano music on our baby grand piano. All the usual Covid-19 precautions will be observed - bring a mask! The show runs December 4th through January 23rd. The gallery is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 1:00-6:00 pm.

Beginning this year, the professional decoration and lighting of the city's Christmas tree will be funded by the George Turnbull Memorial Fund, not just for this year, but for every year from now on. That includes not only the installation of the decorations and lights for the Christmas season, but it also includes the year round lighting of the tree with white mini lights. They will be timed to come on every evening along with the lights that shine on the city's impressiv...e bronze sculpture created by Carl Ciliax that is positioned in front of the tree. This fund was created by donations made at the George Turnbull memorial service four years ago by those wishing to honor his life. The Turnbull Family searched for a suitable way to use those donations and they felt this was a perfect solution. When George and Rae Turnbull created the Arts Commission in 2004, the goal was to enhance the city with beautiful projects and also to establish a beautiful art center and gallery to benefit the city and the surrounding community. George Turnbull had a gift for seeing the beauty and promise in every day, no matter the weather or circumstance. His life and his art reflected that attitude. This ongoing gift of gracing a living tree with beauty and lights fits George Turnbull well. His family and the Arts Commission members hope this gift of light will help dispel the darkness of such a difficult year, and enhance the city for years to come.

Gallery events update: Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions on events with large indoor gatherings, our September 4th Special Event, Making Music, is postponed until Friday evening, November 6th. Put that date on your Fall calendar! John Norman Stewart is an amazing pianist whose long musical career includes appearances in major movies and television. He has graciously agreed to move his performance to November, when hopefully covid-19 event restrictions will no longer ...need to be in effect. In the meantime, remember that the Gallery is open! Come and enjoy one of our best Group shows yet! We’re fully equipped with hand sanitizers, and our 2500 square feet of gallery space provides plenty of room for social distancing. We also have an ample supply of masks in case you left yours in the car! Gallery hours: 1 to 6, Tuesdays through Saturdays.
