Little Known Facts About Famous Composers: the world’s principal violin virtuoso - Niccolò Paganini Niccolò Paganini, born in 1782, died in 1840, lived in Italy and France. He was a popular idol, he inspired the Romantic mystique of the virtuoso and revolutionized the violin technique. He expanded the violin technique to include ways of playing that did not exist before he invented them. In his compositions for the violin, the sounds of animals and other instruments were... sometimes imitated. As a composer, he wrote works for the violin; it is not well-known that Paganini was also an excellent guitarist. Paganini composed his own works to play exclusively in his concerts, all of which profoundly influenced the evolution of the violin technique. His well-known 24 Caprices was likely composed in the period between 1805 and 1809. Also during this period, he composed the majority of the solo pieces, duo-sonatas, trios, and quartets for the guitar, either as a solo instrument or with strings.
