You think "delta smelt" are endangered???...what about the people we work with and for in Central Valley agriculture? 50,000 acres of citrus ALONE is at risk in the central valley. How are YOU affected by this? Do you know a farmer?, a packer?, a tractor dealer?, a trucker?, a farm worker?, a crop protection specialist? a car (pickup) dealer?, an ag teacher? an euipment maufacturer? ______________...fill in the blank...if you live, breathe and eat your life WILL be affected by this issue! If you are inclined to say " there goes those whiney farmers again"...just watch the meat, dairy and produce sections of your favorite market. We're not just talking about high prces...we're talking about items that simply WON'T BE THERE ANYMORE.

I'm always hesitant to declare victory too soon, but it is certainly good to turn the corner to the 1st of February and not see any serious threat of frost or freeze on the horizon...as with the rest of the Citrus Industry, our Grower/Owners endured nearly 30 nights straight of "protection required" freezing temps! For the most part, it would appear all of the effort paid off!...VERY minimal damage...but some REALLY HIGH Gas/Diesel/Power bills! Ouch!!!
