Major Taylor was a professional bike racer from 1896 to 1910 and was perhaps most dominant rider in the world during that time. He dealt with intense racism and was often either excluded or physically attacked (blocked, punched, tackled) when they couldn't stop him from participating. Despite many obstacles he won the World Sprint 1K Champion in 1899 in Montreal.

I just finished photographing a Cannondale System Six that I prepared for him to sell. He will be buying a Tommasini Tecno with track dropouts and will likely be selling a couple other bikes, also. This bike is in outstanding condition, is a 2007 model that is equipped with Shimano Ultregra 6600, but with an upgrade to a Dura Ace rear derailleur. It is a 54cm frame that has a 54.5cm top tube. When designing a custom bicycle I start by measuring the client's primary body dimensions. Co-founder of Hot Italian and a genuine Italian chef, Fabrizio Cercatore, was curious about the process and was kind enough to allow me to take his measurements. Not sure if he will ever want a custom bicycle, but I already have useful data to help me with his project if he ever did. Thank you, Fabrizio.

I just completed a Major Tune-Up of a Look 586 carbon racing bike that also had damage to the rear dropout. The replaceable rear derailleur hanger design on this bike is, in my opinion, too weak and increases the likelihood of an eventual failure, even without a crash or other catastrophic force. I documented this issue for the client in 2014 when he brought in for a signature service and the resulting Optimization Report. The last graphic in this series is the page of t...he report that covers the hanger design, which failed recently and destroyed the Dura Ace derailleur and chain. It also caused damage an area of the carbon dropout. The damaged carbon represented a danger to the client, or anyone else working on the bike, so with the client's approval I removed the damage material and cleaned it up with a file. It will also be inspected whenever the bike is in for service. I feel that this is an important part of what distinguishes Optimized Cycling Solutions. Bikes of this level are expensive and their owners ride them hard. It ends up paying dividends to the rider, us, as well as manufacturers when we use this type of documentation either for warranty claim or provide detailed product feedback. ~Mark
