UPDATE: We received an email this morning from the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts informing us that the building is closed to all classes and reservations beginning Monday March 16th, 2020. No anticipated re-opening date has been provided at this time. While we at Omulu Capoeira Oakland decided to stay ahead of the curve and not to wait for guidance by the City of Oakland, we are thankful that the City of Oakland has taken the precautionary measures to slow and decrease the spread of COVID-19 among it's constituents and those who patronize Oakland. Thank you to everyone for all of your supportive texts, calls, and posts. We will continue to keep you posted.

Dear friends and family, thank you for your understanding in the cancellation of classes this week related to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic. As to reduce any risk of a potential spread of the virus to you and your loved ones we are cancelling our classes for the rest of March. We will update you as we get closer to the end of the month as we will be monitoring the situation here in the Bay Area closely. If you have any questions or need assistance with anything please do not hesitate to reach out. To offer further relief to your monthly budget your payment for the month of March will be applied towards the month that we return. Thank you.

Our lovely Kim (Instrutora Aranha) has just lost her mother. We're reaching out to the larger communities to donate whatever you can to provide financial help during this most challenging time. The goal set in the fund raiser is modest and undoubtedly KIm will need more help. Please donate what you can. She's not asking anyone to do this. It's just the community coming together for her. Kim is a supportive person and she's always there to help others without expecting anything in return. She has done a lot for the Omulu Capoeira Oakland program over the years and all the youth love having her there when she drops in. Thank you in advance for your consideration. <3 https://www.gofundme.com/f/1vg49upydc

Hello everyone! Tonight is our 2nd night into 2020! No uniform, no logo, no expectations; just Capoeira for all levels (beginners too). Monday night's session was a great entry into the new year. Thank you for all the positive feedback. For those who couldn't make it, I took it slow with everyone and eased in to the training with injury prevention, fitness, and age specific training in mind. We'll be continuing on with those focuses. This class is open to everyone of all ages... 18+ and provides a safe training space for all. Please note that I am not trying to indoctrinate anyone from, or into, any particular group. It's just a great opportunity for people to make friends, network if they chose, to learn from one another, and to provide a place that people can come together under one roof with Capoeira and fitness in mind. Just a friendly reminder to share a mutual respect for one another, the space, and the art. Thank you and I hope to see you there!

Hello everyone! For those interested I'm restarting my adult program tomorrow! I've been on hiatus from it since end of March 2017. For now this is a no uniform class to see how it goes. I know there are quite a few folks here that would like to train without a uniform, without a logo, and without pressure to represent a belt after not training for years; or maybe you've left your group, or maybe you don't want to join a group, etc... but still want to train. If you're new to... the art, this is open to you as well. If you want to cross train with us, this is open to you too. This will be an all levels no stress class with Capoeira and fitness in mind. No expectations other than simple mutual respect for one another, the space, and the art. Let's have fun and train! All are welcome. P.S. My flyer has the Omulu logo and was created a couple of months back so I'm not trying to indoctrinate you. My idea for no uniform, etc... is very recent; it's just that my flyer has all the class info for reference. There is an associated fee for the class as I do have to pay rent for the space. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope to see you there! :)
