Have you struggled with sticking to a plan and seeing long term progress? Most people are great starters, but suck at following through. Adherence is a term used in exercise science that basically describes your ability to stick to a program or plan. Here are some tips to help boost your adherence in 2022: Exercise Enjoyment Find a form of exercise you can enjoy doing. Research shows if you enjoy an activity, you are more likely to repeat that activity (Heisz et al, 20...16). Exercise doesn’t have to be just lifting weights. We recommend starting to take daily walks. They are easy to do because you don’t need any equipment and most people can do it in the comfort of their own neighborhood. There are also many community tracks you can go to and walks laps safely. We also recommend trying other forms of exercise, such as yoga, MMA, Pilates, swimming, hiking, climbing, etc. Make Exercise Social Having someone that you can workout with is definitely helpful. Sometimes the gym or workout classes can be intimidating and having a friend go with you can lessen that apprehension and keep you accountable to going to the gym. Or, join a community! You can find a community by joining classes or joining a smaller gym. Have a Bare Minimum Workout Plan When we start to build a habit of exercise, sometimes will-power will only get you so far and life will get in the way, unfortunately. To continue building a habit of exercising, have a bare minimum workout that takes as little as 2 min! In the book, Atomic Habits, he talks about the 2 Minute Rule. He encourages people to have a two minute, scaled down version of whatever habit you are trying to perform. You want to make the habit as easy as possible to do! If you can’t make it to the gym for whatever reason, have a 2 min at home workout ready. We recommend making it full body. Example : 20 push ups 20 air squats hold a 30 second plank Repeat 2-3x See more

We are hosting a UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER PUSH/PULL MEET!! Everyone seemed to really enjoy our Halloween Deadlift Party so we wanted to do another fun event before the end of the year ( thanks @judy for the awesome idea!) $25 to enter the Push/Pull Meet. ... To clarify, a push/pull meet is the bench press AND the deadlift (no squat). At the Halloween Deadlift Party, we did deadlift only. We thought we’d spice things up a bit and do two lifts! You can choose to only bench press, or only deadlift, or do both! (Keep in mind, your total for competing will be what determines the winner based on DOTS. So, if you want to win, we’d recommend doing both the bench and deadlift ) WINNERS will receive a month free off their membership. You DO NOT have to be a member to sign up! Spectator fee : Non-members $5 and members watch for FREE! We will have two winners: 1. Best Ugly Christmas Sweater (based on votes) 2. Best Total (based on DOTS score) Check the link in our bio to sign up!

Throwing it back this Thursday to Nationals!! Where Judy, Kim, Meng and David all competed and kicked ass! We realized we never made a post about Nationals 2021 in Palm Springs. This is where most of our athletes qualified for Worlds. Overall this was such an amazing experience because we got to see so much diversity in our sport! It was amazing to see so many people come from different backgrounds with one common goal: to push themselves and lift the heaviest weight possib...le. It was our first time competing on a national stage and with 500 lifters. It was an overwhelming experience. We all came back so much more inspired to push our totals higher! Hearing so many people overcome adversities and still make it to nationals inspired us to put our excuses aside to push harder toward all our life goals. This is why we LOVE powerlifting. Anyone, literally, anyone can do it. It will push you physically but also mentally. In a competition, it’s you vs you. Being better than the day before or the meet before, showing up for yourself and giving your 100%. If you are interested in watching how our athletes did in the competition, check out our highlight ‘2021 Nationals.’ #tbt #uspa #powerlfiting #nationals

We are SO proud of our athletes hard work and performance at the 2021 drug tested world @iplpowerlifting championships! Judy started the meet strong and CRUSHED her old best squat at nationals in July (187 lbs) with a 220 lbs squat at 127 lbs body weight and 58 years old !! She also beat her old bench numbers and deadlift numbers by 5 lbs. She attempted the state record on the deadlift and got 303 off the floor but due to her car accident, hips shifted and she couldn’t pull ...it up completely. She definitely put up a good fight for it tho! She went 7/9. Kim had a goal to break the ceiling on each of her lifts, meaning she wanted to break into 300+ on squat, 200+ on bench, and 400+ on deadlift. And we did that! Kind of. There were a couple small mistakes in the squat (small step back before the rack command) and deadlift (soft knee) that did not count those lifts. We know she will CRUSH those numbers next time. However, she did CRUSH a 209 lbs bench press for a world record at 55 years old. This was a HUGE improvement from her bench at nationals (187 lbs). She went 7/9. Meng had a difficult fight ahead of him. We had 540-550 planned on squats, since he was hitting those numbers in training. However, we missed an attempt due to depth and that caused us to fall behind. He still broke the CA state record with a 529 squat at 161 lbs body weight! The bench press was a call error. We made too big of a jump for the second attempt and ended up only hitting our opener. He was having some forearm related issues on the deadlift and was struggling to hold onto the bar, so we finished with his opener weight on deadlift too. He definitely had more in the tank, and going into the off-season we have a solid plan to bring a MUCH better total to the platform next time. He fought hard all day, and we are super proud. He got silver in the 165 weight class and went 4/9. Great work athletes!

Nick, AKA the Russian, smashing a HUGE PR on dead’s. At his meet @naspowergym he maxed out about 450 lbs back in august. Now he is prepping to go back to NASPOWER and here he is hitting 500 lbs for 5 PAUSED reps. He is going to SMASH his old numbers. Way to go Nick!

Congratulations to our four competitors at the grand slam competition earlier today! Thank you @elliottlord for putting on a great meet, as usual. Judging, spotting, and the environment was a great experience for our lifters. Two of the four, Nick and Judy, got to experience this as their first meet! Michael came back to the platform today after 2 years off due to the insanity that has been running this business for the past two years, no excuses. She is back in the game. And Owen killed his second competition. Both Owen and Judy qualifies for the North American championships in November! We are very proud of our lifters, great work today guys! Also, we are very grateful for everyone who help to make this meet possible. Thank you @naspowergym and all the meet staff!
