Fall is here ... change is in the air. Tomorrow is the big day. Election day is finally here. I've been hearing from you about working the phones, polls, writing postcards and letters, so I wanted to share some encouraging and fun facts from Vote Forward (https://votefwd.org/) , just one of many non-profits organizing volunteers to get the vote out. Check this out: Total letters written: 17,562,304... Total volunteers writing letters: 184,059 Value of stamps purchased, supporting USPS: $9.7 million Percent of prepared letters confirmed sent so far: 95% "To put it in somewhat more dramatic terms, based on the average length of letter samples we reviewed, we believe you wrote approximately 643 million words.That’s enough letters, if arranged end-to-end, to reach from New York City to San Francisco." OLIVE HARVEST IS UNDERWAY The fruit is beautiful but sadly, OTOT is not hosting our annual harvest event this year. I spoke with Nancy Lily of Tallgrass Ranch, where we've gone for the last three years, and their harvest has begun. The bulk of their olives will be picked this weekend. Fruit is lean but looking great! Look out for new harvest oil in the shop soon. Erin, my PRMRY business partner, and I joined Kathryn Tomajan of Fat Gold down in Paso Robles for harvest and milling a couple of weeks ago. It’s officially Fall. First butternut squash recipe of the season. And my two new favorite sauces! Recipe by Ottolenghi from Plenty More. Cut butternut squash into 3/4 inch pieces. leave skin on (yippee!) it’s in a mix of cinnamon, olive oil, salt.spread on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. 400 for 25 min. In the meantime, make the sauces. First one is Greek yogurt with sriracha. Second one is a bunch of cilantro leaves, 1 clove garlic, 1/4 cup evoo and blend. The spicy ...with the cool creamy yogurt together with the burst of cilantro, garlic and flavorful evoo (I used a Tuscan Blend) was a winning combo. Cauliflower cake! A cross between a frittata and a savory cake. Mostly cauliflower, eggs, onion, 1 cup flour, baking powder, 1.5 cups parm, turmeric, basil, S&P, olive oil and sesame seeds. I added some left over potato and poblano peppers. So good for breakfast, lunch and / or dinner. How versatile is that?!...
