Truly since antiquity, the European laurel ( ) has been a deeply rooted presence in human cultures across the globe. Native to the Mediterranean region, this tree was the symbol for acclaim and success in Greco-Roman civilization, a tradition that is carried forward to this day in the laurel-wreath crowning of our Olympic champions and with the honoring of Nobel Prize laureates. In cuisines around the world, the bay leaves of this remarkable plant are commonly used as a seasoning in soups and stew dishes. Come and visit Cypress Lawn Arboretum soon, talk a walk, and visit our specimen European laurel for yourself. Learn more here: https://www.cypresslawn.com/about/memorial-park/arboretum/

We have received many calls from concerned community members after we experienced a fire at our Crosby-N. Gray & Co. Funeral Home location in Burlingame yesterday afternoon. We suspect the cause of the fire was electrical in nature, and our building sustained some minor damage to part of the garage. We are grateful that no one was injured and are thankful for the wonderful firefighters from Burlingame and Central County for responding quickly and helping our team. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions for our team: https://www.crosby-ngray.com/contact-us/
