Old School Kenpo Karate

We want to thank the black belts who participated (either in person or on Zoom) in Saunak Ghosh's test for 1st degree black belt...as we all know, a black belt test is a rare occurrence and it was made even more difficult by the restraints that the pandemic has placed on us all...but we are pleased and proud to have been able to come up with a test worthy of this rank and we are even more proud of the great job that "Sho" did...we will be posting more about the test soon and when his belt ceremony will be so that students and black belts can attend either in-person (with all protocols followed) or on Zoom!!!!

We are still doing well with our twice weekly Zoom classes and our once-a-week in person class...and we are also doing well with keeping up with student tests. We have several students entering the upper ranks of Green and degrees of Brown Belt and we will soon be testing one student for first degree Black Belt and one for Second Degree Black Belt!!! Meantime, we want to congratulate Kenny Field for earning his Blue Belt and another congrats to Marland McCormick for earning his Orange Belt! No tests are easy during this time of distance learning and limited contact so passing a test and demonstrating skill has never been more difficult! We so, so appreciate what our Old School Kenpo family is accomplishing!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO MARLAND McCORMICK for earning his orange belt! Marland was our first virtual test when he earned his yellow belt...now he has completed our first successful test in our new "socially distanced" face-to-face class in the large upstairs room in Boogie Zone! Marland is a true Old School pioneer during this time of change, and we look forward to his continued ascension up the Kenpo rank ladder!!!

Thank you all!!! We have established a good pattern of our Zoom classes on Mondays and Saturdays and our in-person class in the large room upstairs (with all virus protocols followed) on Wednesday evenings. As most of you know, Boogiezone is converting all of their studios to be available for other media uses...and that included ours. After 14 years in that beloved studio we were devastated to have to move our equipment and memories...BUT we are so happy to still have our loyal core of students and a schedule of classes that will see us through until we...and the world...will get back to normal. Again, thank you all!!!

We want to thank all of you who were there for our first live class in many months last Wednesday night and for those of you who joined us on Zoom! Remember, we will have our regular Zoom class TOMORROW, SATURDAY, JULY 11th, at noon!!! Hope to see you all then!
