God-willing, this Saturday, May 22, at an 11 a.m. Mass at Church of Saint Paul The Apostle, NYC, Paulist Deacon Mike Cruickshank and Paulist Deacon Rich Whitney... will be ordained priests. Over the next few days, we'll be sharing photos and videos featuring these two awesome Paulists. For starters, here is a bit of background on Deacon Mike:

FIVE REASONS WHY I LIKE ST. PHILIP NERI: A REFLECTION BY PAULIST FATHER JOE SCOTT Ever hear of him? St. Philip Neri is one of the patron saints of the Paulist Fathers. We Paulists like missionaries, and Philip Neri was a missionary. He wanted to bring the gospel of Jesus to Rome. In the 16th century this was a challenge. With respect to living the gospel of Jesus, the Church in Rome was a disgrace. Philip had few supporters and lots of opposition. If you haven’t heard of him..., it may be because he wrote no books. Perhaps he was too busy. He slowly made converts, person to person, one day at a time. This is why I like him: He WASN’T about law and order, rules and regulations, hell and damnation. He WASN’T about fancy robes and awesome titles. The gospel he preached was a Word of love and joy. He had a great sense of humor. He did tell jokes, and even play pranks, but the root of his humor was a sense of joy about being fully alive as a creature of God. He exhibited the kind of humor that grows with genuine humility. He could poke fun at himself and face the dust of death with an awareness that he was no better nor worse than anyone else on this earth. He loved young people, and they loved him. We don’t see many young people in church anymore. Why? Young people were drawn to Philip Neri because they felt more alive in his presence. He was imaginative, and he knew that imagination and creativity are best shared with others. One of the most energetic experiences is to spend time with young people when they are creating a play or a dance from scratchespecially when they know their ideas and talents are valued. I remember watching the television coverage when Pope Francis went to Brazil for World Youth Day. The stars of the show were the young women and men who vied in creating skits and music to express and profess their faith as well as welcome the Holy Father. This was a taste of what it was like to walk the streets of Rome with St. Philip. Perhaps most importantly, St. Philip was a person of prayer. He knew how to teach others to pray and like it. He was skilled at reading the souls of others because had explored his own with honesty and courage. St. Philip Neri’s feast day is May 31. Think of a young person you know who might relish a word of appreciation or encouragement. In the spirit of St. Philip, reach out!

Charlie Chaplin lived 88 years He left us 4 statements: (1) Nothing is forever in this world, not even our problems. (2) I love walking in the rain because no o...ne can see my tears. (3) The most lost day in life is the day we don't laugh. (4) Six best doctors in the world...: 1. The sun 2. Rest 3. Exercise 4. Diet 5. Self-respect 6. Friends Stick to them at all stages of your life and enjoy a healthy life... If you see the moon, you will see the beauty of God... If you see the sun, you will see the power of God... If you see a mirror, you will see God's best creation. So believe it. We are all tourists, God is our travel agent who has already identified our routes, bookings and destinations... trust him and enjoy life. Life is just a journey! Therefore, live today! Tomorrow may not be. See more
