Sorry, I know I'm breaking my own rules by doing this, but this is a good friend of mine from elementary school. If you see a cat that looks strikingly like Baloo in Escondido in your neighborhoods please message me through FB messenger or reply to this post. Thank you all in advance for your help. - Josh
From the TA, a shot of the CCFA back in January 1994.
Vineyard Grape Stomp, 1981. Thanks to Lela Rose Jones for this photo.
Hope you all are staying safe and dry these last few weeks. If any of you are out and about driving today, avoid the 78 freeway past College heading west. It's closed due to major flooding. Here are some photos of the flooding courtesy of the UT & California Highway Patrol. Be safe!! - Josh
Thanks Ricky for this one
Hello again from stay at home land. Who knew that the highlight of my day would become doing laundry. How sad is that? :D Anyway, if you all are REALLY bored, and want to get out those old photo albums and scan in some pictures of old Escondido and send them to us via Facebook Messenger, now would be the perfect time to do it. In fact, with incredible lenses on most smart phone cameras today, you don't really even need to scan the photos (preferable, but not mandatory). You can take pictures of the pictures and send them quicker. Please don't end up like me, staring at the spin cycle on the washer for hours because when you're bored it's somewhat hypnotic. Thanks everyone. - Josh
Well, looks like I'll have plenty of time to update the page now. Wow. Just in case you hadn't heard, see below: https://www.cnbc.com//california-governor-issues-statewide
Hello Everyone, Like a lot of you out there, unfortunately the recent spread of COVID-19 has caused unforeseen scheduling / work related issues for us here and at our day jobs too. We will continue to do our best to update the page as much as we can and as time permits. We hope all of you out there are staying safe and healthy. As always, thank you for all of your continued support of I Remember Old Escondido over the years. Josh Corns... Founder, IROE See more
August 2nd, 1981. Escondido National All-Stars go all the way to the Little League World Series. I'm sure something in my description is wrong. Please correct me. ;) - Josh
Not the greatest image of Golfland, but Golfland never the less. March 12th, 1987. So this would have been taken when K-Mart & Showbiz Pizza were there, correct? I think it's too early for Chuck E Cheese, but I could be wrong.
Many thanks to Jason Buckingham for these photos! You know, these vandals whomever they are, can spray-paint ridiculous garbage all over them, and throw trash and beer bottles everywhere, but they'll never destroy what they stand for, nor will they ever tarnish their iconic status in history. Mama & baby bear watching over Escondido, forever. - Josh
Extra special thanks to the actual artist himself, Brad Stoddard for posting these photos of the Vineyard Mall murals for us here at IROE! Much appreciated Brad! - Josh
Headstone of Rube Nelson & Blanche located in our very own Oak Hill Memorial Park / Cemetery. Rest in peace Rube. You were an incredible man who did so much for so many people. Photo courtesy of Terry Shattles.
Photo courtesy of Terry Shattles. The McDonalds on Ash & Valley after the fire destroyed it. It would be demolished shortly afterwards. Year is 2012.
