Oktoberfest in El Cajon

Okay all you German beer aficionados out there an Oktoberfest land! Got a friend that's making some alt-style German beer, he wants to know what he should be looking for in it. Anybody know anything about altbier other than what's listed in Wikipedia? What should he be looking for flavor-wise? Apparently they're hard to find outside of a few pubs in Germany, we used to serve Diebel's but that was some time ago and I don't think it's available anymore here. Danke!

From KUSI today, the news is promising: "California health officials announced Tuesday that all COVID-19 restrictions on businesses, gatherings and recreational activities will be lifted June 15, although a statewide mask mandate will remain in place."

Februarfest in El Paso!

So, there were Facebook recommendations to update some details on our page. The first was to drop "Beer Garden" as part of our description - which also include "Festival" and "Arts and Entertainment." That suggestion was rejected. The second was to change our price range from $ to $$. Before I agree or reject, was wondering how the price ranges are determined. A flat rate, comparing to similar events, or...? And if the latter, comparing ticket price or price of goods and other offerings at the fest? It's not a huge issue, but was wondering what our followers think.

Picked up some pretzels to help with that big void left by a cancelled Oktoberfest! How about you? Deadline is today!

Kind of weak, but here are some options! Does anyone know of a place that's actually serving German bier on tap, like we do at Oktoberfest in El Cajon? (Carlsbad Brewing Co. features WEIHENSTEPHANER "KRISTALL WEISSE" HEFEWEIZEN, ). Know of a German meal on the menu at a local restaurant? We had a wonderful meal with great German bier at Kaiserhof last week, check it out, call for reservations! There are a few other German restaurants and delis around, too. Share here if you know of a good place to get your Oktoberfest fix satisfied!

Sooooo... today would have been the first of six spectacular days of Oktoberfest in El Cajon! Since we won't be able to add any new photos or videos of people enjoying the music, food, dancing, shopping, and great German beer from Oktoberfest, feel free to have fun and post other Oktoberfest photos. Photos from past fests, celebrating Oktoberfest 2020 at home or however you can, even crying in your beer! Mention any bar, restaurant or other venue that is having some sort of Oktoberfest menu or special in case staying at home with beer, brats, and sauerkraut isn't enough! And... ein prosit!

Missing Oktoberfest...

John is serving some of the "Hot Brats" we sell at Oktoberfest. This may be the only place in town that has them, sadly... But hey, good food, good beer, check it out!
