*Students Making a Difference!* As part of Nordhoff High School "Random Acts of Kindness" Challenge in November, launched by Principal Monson, Senior Rebecca Kirkland rallied her fellow students for a holiday card writing campaign. Rebecca specifically selected elder community members as card recipients, as she felt they may be lonely as a result of social distancing from friends and family members. The result? Rebecca delivered the first round of approximately 50 cards... last week! Thank you Ranger family for encouraging our students to do something nice for those around us people, especially during the holidays!
As part of OUSD's partnership with Ojai - International City of Peace, and a grant from City of OjaiArts Commission, Nordhoff Senior Tymbri Potter installed the very first of ten Peace Poles at Nordhoff High School. Tymbri created, and painted, this peace pole design, conveying symbols of peace, including; the Mandarin word for peace, the Paz Cultural Symbol, the Japanese paper peace crane, the white poppy of peace from the United Kingdom, and dove with olive branch. Thank you to coordinators @Brian Berman, Lisa Berman and @Ray Powers, Nordhoff art teachers Gray Duncan and Kate Thomas, and all students, who have embraced this project as a message of hope for #TheheartandfutureofOjai #inclusion #creativityandthearts
