The morning of January 24, 2011 began with the typical routine. I woke up and turned on the local news channel and started to get the children ready for school just like every other day. A breaking news story came across the television that caught my eye. Jeff had been shot and was now at the hospital. While on our way down to St Petersburg, Dad called and told us that Jeff was gone. Jeff knew that there would be risks in his job, but you never truly believe that it will happen to you. I may never know, or understand why Jeff’s life was taken on January 24, 2011, but I know he died a hero, and I tell my story to continue to share his testimony, and ensure that I live my life helping others heal from their tragedy that they have faced in life. #LawEnforcement #LivesMatter http://www.lawenforcementtoday.com//line-of-duty-death-th/

I can’t think of a more important time than now to stop and honor The Good Cop the law enforcement officers who strap on a uniform and hit America’s dangerous streets every day. Each year, tens of thousands of uniformed officers are assaulted. Each year, scores die in the line of duty, including 116 so far in 2015. Texas, sadly, is leading the pack with 13 deaths.
