When should you start estate planning? The answer is easy: Right Now. Whether you’re single or married, renting or own a house, have children or not, you need to have an estate plan that fits your needs. Not only does estate planning help ensure that your assets are transferred to where you want them to go, but it leaves you with a sense of security knowing that your life, healthcare decisions and other financial decisions will be in the hands of those you trust most.... Please also remember that an important part of your plan should include passing along knowledge and skills to the next generation so that they can make informed decisions when the time comes for them to manage financial matters. If you have questions about estate planning or you’re ready to begin the estate planning process reach out to our team today! #estateplanning #financialplanning #OdysseyWealthDesign #estateplanningawarenessweek #financialindependence #personalfinance #financialliteracy #businessowners #successmindset

In honor of Labor Day, we wanted to celebrate Dolores Huerta, one of the most important labor leaders and civil rights activists of our time. She is the co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union and leader of the Chicano civil rights movement. Huerta has spent her life leading the fight against racial injustice, challenging gender discrimination, and fighting for safer working conditions, and unemployment and healthcare benefits for agricultural workers. Even at 90, Dolore...s relentlessly fights for justice for agricultural workers and the disenfranchised. Did You Know?: Sí se puede was the rallying cry of the United Farm Workers Union in the 70s, led by Dolores Huerta and César Chávez, when they were trying to organize farm workers to demand fair wages and better working conditions. Spanish for "Yes, it is possible" or "Yes, we can," this motto has been adopted by other civil and labor rights groups to inspire Latinos around the country. On this Labor Day we also want to honor all workers in our community, from our fields to our hospitals, who are performing essential duties during this unprecedented time. While the fight for civil rights persists, please know that we appreciate everything you do! Learn more at: https://bit.ly/327B2pK Photo Credit: W.K. Today is Women's Equality Day, which commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, giving women the right to vote. Not only are we celebrating the achievements of women’s rights activists, but we are reminded of the unique struggles that women face today. Women & Financial Planning: Why it Matters! According to the Quantum Group as of March 2017:... Women control nearly 60% of the wealth in the United States, including $11.2 trillion, or 39%, of the country’s investable assets. 10 years after graduating, degreed women earned less than degreed men who had been in the workforce only 6 years. Almost half44%of women are the primary breadwinners in their households, an almost four-fold increase since 1960. The average woman spends 15% of her working years outside of the workforce caring for children & elderly parents compared to the average man’s 1.6%. Women are earning less, saving less, and living longer, putting them at greater risk in retirement. Women should feel empowered about their financial future, but to achieve empowerment, they need access to robust and meaningful financial education. This can help everyoneespecially women achieve financial wellness and security. If you’re interested in expanding your financial literacy or need to talk, we’re here. #women #womenfinance #financialplanning #financialplanner #OdysseyWealthDesign #wealthbuilding #personalfinance #womensequalityday

Today is National Nonprofit Day! Supporting community and philanthropic organizations you care about can be a fulfilling part of your life, and an important way to carry on your legacy. Especially during this pandemic, giving back has a significant impact on people’s well-being, emotionally and financially. Other than simply donating reactively, here are 3 other proactive ways to give purposefully, that you can include as part of your financial plan! 1. Donor-advised fund:... A giving vehicle where the donor makes an irrevocable contribution to the fund maintained by the charitable organization, receives an immediate tax deduction, and has the power to make recommendations or provide advice on distributions from the fund for charitable purposes. 2. Bequest: A gift left to a charity after the donor’s death. Donors can make bequests by means of a will, revocable trust, or beneficiary designations on accounts or insurance policies. 3. Charitable gift annuity: A contractual agreement between you and a charity, where you make a lump-sum donation to the charity in exchange for a partial tax deduction and a lifetime fixed stream of income from the charity. The charity receives the balance of the invested funds upon your death. If you’d like to ensure your financial plan includes your philanthropic goals or want to learn more about charitable giving vehicles, don’t hesitate to reach out to us! #financialplanning #nationalnonprofitday #nonprofit #charitablegiving #charity #odysseywealthdesign #financialwellness #financialadvisor #donate #donating

During the last quarter people all around the world have had to step up in unique ways. Governments passed stimulus packages. Researchers used advances in genetics and artificial intelligence to develop tests for a virus that just weeks before was largely unknown. Grandmothers sewed thousands of face masks for their loved ones. Advancements in technology made it possible for many, including our practice, to move to working from home efficiently and seamlessly. Perhaps even ...10 years ago, none of this would have been possible; but given the collective power of these efforts we have risen to the occasion, and the investment markets staged a powerful recovery as well. Click the link below to continue reading our perspective on the past quarter, and as always, we are here if you would like to talk. https://bit.ly/2DdrTlC #financialadvisor #financialplanning #marketcommentary #marketupdate #personalfinance

I happen temporarily to occupy this big White House. I am a living witness that any one of your children may look to come here as my father’s child has. It is in order that each of you may have through this free government which we have enjoyed, an open field and fair chance for your industry, enterprise, and intelligence; that you may all have equal privileges in the race of life, with all its desirable human aspirations. It is for this the struggle should be maintained, ...that we may not lose our birthrightnot only for one, but for two or three years. The nation is worth fighting for, to secure such an inestimable jewel. From Speech to the 166th Ohio Regiment, August 22, 1864 #4thofJuly #fourthofjuly #Independence #abrahamlincoln
