Progress. This is my first time making a carved wooden head. I have learned a lot along the way. I still have some critical cuts to make, but I am happy I made it this far. I'm hoping to have the whole thing carved and assembled by the end of the month. The rough cuts for the rest of it were done last year before the madness started. The project has veered, but I'm hoping to intersect these new ideas with the old. There is after all, no going back.

Here is another teaser for Larry Schmidt"s Driveway Follies . I created these videos for social media, so they are all really short. Voice: Opie Bellas Puppet and Script: Larry Schnidt Puppeteer, sound and video editing: Fred C Riley III... We are hoping to be on the stage again next year to bring Larry's dream back to the neighborhood. I'll be posting a few more videos today and tomorrow. Please visit the wessite and help us by donating or buying one of the Jitters and Aunt Grandma pins. Happy Halloween everyone.

I love the beat swagger in this shadow show. (10 min.) Shadowlight Productions (Larry Reed directing) and Bindlestiff of San Francisco (Aureen Almario directing) put together this hep intro to Filipino artist Carlos Villa. I came in to make a couple things and lend a hand in performance, but the show was pretty fully formed before I came on board. I had won a grant for space to work on my own piece (more on that later), so I didn't take part in the original brain storming. I just love this little piece though and I am so proud I got to be part of it. It was built for the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and only showed twice. Please check it out. https://vimeo.com/404781298

(This is only available to watch through Sunday) I was the Assistant Director on this project. I am the voice and mask of Saum. I created mechanism to make the puppets work and play countless puppets. This show is the dream of Hamid Rahmanian. Larry Reed's Shadowlight Productions supplied the know-how of a style Larry has developed over a lifetime and a cast versed in that style. We followed Hamid's storyboard as we translated it into Shadowlight's style. The amount of heart ...and work brought to this project from musicians to craftsman to the technical aspects of sound and projection was enormous. I think this is a good show, but as any performer knows, all I see is what didn't go right. We grow with every experience, and I cringe at some of my performance choices. I wish I had found more stillness. I will say that everyone brought their a game. Thank you to all involved, especially Hamid and Larry. (I have tagged some of those involved, but please read the credits) See more
