We received a message from our rescued biker from the end of December and we are happy to report he is recovering well! He wanted to send his many thanks for being there in his time of need along with our partners for the day OCSD - Air Support Unit, Orange County Fire Authority, MCCS Camp PendletonCamp Pendleton and California State Parks. The injured hiker also wanted to complement our very skilled motor for being one of the first to reach him by riding the terrain. We do have some very skilled and highly knowledgeable motors in our city and within the department. Check out the video below of our motor riding !

This past weekend Sergeant Prescott and Deputy Bruno were blessed by Greyson and Rian with an outpouring of love and support. Sergeant Prescott reported the lemonade was extra sweet and he couldn’t decide if that was intentional or just a byproduct of loving children doing sweet things. #lemonade #cupcakes #thankyouforlettingusbeyourdeputies #SanClemente

Catalytic converters thefts are a trend we have seen lately and would like to remind the public to take precautions to safeguard their vehicles . Catalytic converters are part of a vehicle’s exhaust system, that reduces toxic gases and pollutants. See the tips below to help prevent thefts and consult a mechanic for further guidance on preventing catalytic converter thefts. 1) Park in a well-lit area, next to an entrance or walk ways 2) If you are able to park in a g...arage and always shut the garage door. 3) Install a car alarm 4) install motion sensor lights on driveways and areas where cars are parked 5) Consider adding security cameras to oversee driveways 6) engrave an identifying number onto your catalytic converter, so it can be returned if located Please report any suspicious activity by calling us at 949-770-6011.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Sheriff Sandra Hutchens. She led this department for more than a decade with grace, integrity and humility. The positive impact she made on the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the residents of Orange County will never be forgotten.

THC vs. CBD do you know the difference? Marijuana is an addictive substance that has short-term and long-term effects on the brain. THC is the harmful compound in the marijuana plant, accounting for over-stimulating brain receptors that affect memory, mood, concentration and coordination. Although CBD, the medicinal compound in the marijuana plant, has been found to have benefits, there are very low amounts in the marijuana plant. Most often, CBD is extracted from the pla...nt and used in a variety of products on the market such as lotions and oils. #RedRibbon See more

Many teens and young adults addicted to opioids started with #Rx drugs. Most who recreationally use prescriptions say they get opioid prescriptions from home or someone they know. Always lock up your medication and talk to your teens about the dangers of prescription pills. #RedRibbon

Educating students and their families on the dangers of drug use and trends we are seeing in the community remain an important piece of preventing drug use among our youth. When teens begin vaping, they often don’t know the addictive nature of the dangerous practice. Just one cartridge of vape liquid can be the equivalent of smoking anywhere from 45 to 90 cigarettes. Vaping is not only highly addictive, it also damages the lungs. #RedRibbon
