The First Light Where The Spirit Is May 18, 2021 "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom)" ~ II Corinthians 3:17 (AMP)... When you make Jesus the Lord of your of life, something supernatural takes place on the inside of you. The Spirit of God actually makes His home in your heart. And the Bible tells us that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom! When you allow that truth to sink into your mind and heart, when you get into agreement with God and begin to declare that you are free, then you will see that freedom manifest in every area of your life. God will begin to turn around situations that you've been praying about for years. He'll restore relationships that you thought were impossible. He'll bring health and wholeness back into your body. Those dreams, those promises that are on the inside of you, they may look too big, but God will set you free to pursue those dreams. He'll set you up to overcome every obstacle. He'll empower you to defeat every enemy so that you can move forward in freedom and victory in every area of your life! Prayer for Today ~ Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Spirit that lives inside me and gives me life. Help me to know You and Your power so that I can live in the freedom You have for me. In Jesus' amen.

The First Light The Position of Power May 10, 2021 "Good sense makes a man restrain his anger, and it is his glory to overlook a transgression or an offense" ~ Proverbs 19:11 (AMP)... Every day we have opportunities to get upset, be frustrated or get offended. Maybe you had plans that didn't work out, or someone was rude to you at the office. Maybe you were doing something that should have taken one hour and it ended up taking three. Life is full of inconveniences, but even though we can't always control our circumstances, we can control our reaction. I heard somebody say, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond." We should always go out each day with a positive attitude, full of hope and expecting God's favor. But at the same time, we should recognize that most days are not going to go exactly as we plan. Remember, we were created to live in peace. Peace is our position of power. If you get stressed because you got off schedule or upset because your child wouldn't eat his breakfast, or frustrated because somebody offended you, what you're doing is giving away your power. Instead, make the decision to release those offenses and disappointments so you live in peace and move forward in the power and victory the Lord has for you! Prayer for Today ~ Heavenly Father, today I release every care, concern, offense, and disappointment to You. I choose to keep the peace that You have given me knowing that with You my best days are ahead! In Jesus' Name. amen.

The First Light He Will Answer May 7, 2021 "I will answer them before they even call to Me..." ~ Isaiah 65:24 (NLT)... Have you ever thought about something you wanted or needed, and suddenly, that need was supplied-before you ever even stopped to pray about it? God knows your needs before you even speak them. He wants to provide for you and answer the very desires of your heart. When you put Him first in everything you do, when you faithfully follow His commands, He'll pour out an extra portion of His goodness and favor upon you. Don't ever think God is too busy to answer your prayers. Don't ever think your needs are too small or that you don't matter. He cares about everything that concerns you, and He loves to hear you call upon His name. You are very special to God, and He promises to answer in His timing, and sometimes, before you even call. Stand in faith knowing that God wants to shower you with His abundant blessings today. Prayer for Today ~ Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. Reveal Your good plan for me and teach me to trust in You as I surrender to You every area of life. In Jesus' Name. amen.

The First Light He Works All Things Together May 6, 2021 "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them" ~ Romans 8:28 (NLT)... Everyone goes through things that don't seem to make sense. It's easy to get discouraged and wonder, "Why did this happen to me?" "Why did this person treat me wrong?" "Why did I get laid off?" But we have to understand, even though life is not always fair, God is fair. And He promises to work all things together for good for those who love Him. I believe the key word is this verse is "together." In other words, you can't just isolate one part of your life and say, "Well, this is not good." "It's not good that I got laid off." "It's not good that my relationship didn't work out." Yes, that's true, but that's just one part of your life. God can see the big picture. That disappointment is not the end. Remember, when one door closes, God has another door for you to walk through-a better door. Those difficulties and challenges are merely stepping stones toward your brighter future. Be encouraged today because God has a plan for you to rise higher. He has a plan for you to come out stronger. He has a plan to work all things together for your good so that you can move forward in the victory He has prepared for you! Prayer for Today ~ Heavenly Father, thank You for working all things together for my good. I choose to release any doubt, any frustration, any confusion over my past, and I choose to trust in You. In Jesus' Name. amen.

The First Light Watch for that Open Door May 5, 2021 As those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. ~ Colossians 3:12 (NASB)... Have you ever tried to share something important with another person only to see them losing interest and looking around for an escape route? It can make you feel completely insignificant. One of the greatest gifts we can give another person is our undivided attention. This verse lists the qualities that we should strive for in order to do that. Compassion and kindness open our hearts to someone else’s needs. Humility dampens our urge to top their problem with one of our own. Gentleness and patience make us willing to hear the whole story. Finally, because we have been chosen by God, we want to share how He has helped us and give them hope that He can help them too. When people choose to share their brokenness with you, they are opening the door for you to tell them about the Lord. I encourage you to put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, and take advantage of that open door every time it presents itself. Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous ~ Psalm 112:4 (NLT). Pray for God’s light to shine in such a way that your generosity, compassion, and righteousness might avail much. Prayer for Today ~ Heavenly Father, help me to watch and be ready for Your open doors to show compassion and kindness to others as You have shown to me. May I be a beacon of light to others that they might find a place of refuge and peace in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
