I always say as the years go by it makes us more appreciative of the monumental effort that took place to save and restore the Oceano Depot. It took a town and Oceano stepped up and saved our Depot. Sadly, with things the way they are today it would never happen. Wishing the good people of Bakersfield all the best in. This quest. It is worth it and when it's gone , it's gone I will follow this and do what I can
Thelma was the sister of PFC George B Murray. She was the inspiration for the mission we undertook to find him. He was killed in the Battle of Tarawa on November 20, 1943. Thelma helped us identify the pictures of WW11 servicemen in 2001. We had moved Oceano's WW11 Memorial to the Depot and planned a rededication ceremony. Thelma and her sister Marion were there to read their brother's name on the memorial during the ceremony. Sadly, Thelma and Marion did not live to see George come home after being missing 73 years.

Very happy to see our friend Jean-Guy Dube is involved in trying to save the Bakersfield Depot. Wishing you much success in this endeavor. Thank you
Tis the season. Wreaths all ready to go up on our street lamp posts. Depot will be decorated this weekend!
Jim Gregory stirs up memories of the old Box Company and the Depot.
When the Depot is open again stop in and visit the collection of local servicemen and women on display. The collection started with Oceano barber Hap Corey who hung photos of our local boys on the walls of the barber shop during the war. You will surely see someone you know.
