The voices of older adults deserve to be heard in this and every election. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, older adults may face barriers to voting safely and securely. Advocates working with seniors can play an important role in sharing information about voting rights and procedures with their communities. Listed here are a few resources for advocates and older adults to help navigate potential legal and logistical barriers to voting: https://www.cms.gov/files/document/qso...-21-02-nh.pdf https://ltcombudsman.org/issues/voting https://www.americanbar.org//law_ag/2020-voting-guide.pdf

Community Based Adult Services -CBAS- is the MediCal funded Adult Day Health Care program. This care is ESSENTIAL in the continuum, as it is proven to reduce ER visits, reduce hospitalizations, reduce infection rates, reduce falls and keep frail elder adults healthier and happier in an extremely cost-effective manner.

I am so pleased and honored to be among the faculty for this series. I will be speaking on October 24 at 10 am and again on October 29 at 6 pm, discussing the Care, Prepare & Connect program that is part of the Caring for the Whole Person Initiative. This presentation will help you understand the teachings of the Church about end of life care, and encourage you to talk with your loved ones now about your wishes for medical care and treatment in the event that you are unable t...o speak for yourself. Planning ahead for future medical needs is the best way to ensure that your wishes will be respected, and provides tremendous peace of mind for you and your loved ones. COVID 19 has taught many lessons about the importance of having your wishes known well ahead of medical crisis. This issue transcends all denominations and traditions. Thank you to O’Connor Mortuary and CareCHOICES Hospice for supporting this effort! See more

Technology - the good, the bad & the ugly...we love it and hate it... but one thing is clear, technology is here to stay! The COVID 19 crisis has taught us just how important it is to be techno-connected! Zoom, Facetime, Telehealth, video chat and other tools have become part of our daily existence and made major differences in how we have managed during this troublesome time. Downloading, troubleshooting and re-booting have become daily fodder. The OC Aging Services Collaborative and OC Strategic Plan for Aging want to know more about how technology has impacted you. Help us create better tools and connections with elder adults by taking this survey "Technology and You in 2020." Your participation is vital to helping us improve programs for our future, here in the OC.
