I don’t need a night out with fist pumping music to wake up feeling groggy; just an insistence that we gotta finish one more episode of Halston when it’s 11pm and I scream out YOLO as I slightly tilt my head off the pillow and click next episode like a G. I don’t need fancy margaritas to wake up hungover; now I can make that happen with a single late night burrito because everything was closed on Door Dash by the time I remembered I forgot dinner. I’m getting old party-peop...le and today marks 2 months before a 4 defines the first 2 digits of my age. But in my experience; for all the entropy I feel when turn up the brightness on my phone and talk to strangers about my back health because I now think they care for some reason; I also realize this is the best age to create. We’re making people, we’re making companies, we’re designing homes and we’re focusing on the causes that matter to us. It’s a weird time to be alive when you delicately roll sideways out of the bed in the morning but then go crush life harder than you ever had - just as soon as your knee stops making that popping sound. It’s a fun time to see your kids look like a Facetune version of yourself each day. I feel super lucky to have lived the past 39.9 years the way I have and this morning I woke up and wanted to tell anyone who’s scared of getting old; you’re going to be just fine. Your closet will have better clothes in it, you’ll have less friends with raunchy nicknames, you’ll fill up your gas tank entirely each time because you can and your skin care regimen will be peaking but you won’t need to show it off on IG. It’s a good time to be alive because you’ll own as many socks as you want and making your bed somehow becomes a thrill. I can’t explain why all these changes happen to my former self but I don’t think he would be listening anyways because he’s likely busy at the edge of the bar busy putting out the vibe anyways. But for those of you younger than me who are listening; it actually gets better - I promise. And for those of you older than me; please teach me your skin care regimen and at what age you start going to the gym again because wow you look great. Cheers to almost 40 See more

If you find someone who knows the full lyrics to Regulate and is prettier than you call it a day and slap a ring on it. I did and my life is a whole lot better for it. That’s all the advice I have for now but I hope someone somewhere reads this tonight and realizes they’ve struck gold. @jessieobyrne
