A late follow up to my last post, what a beast of a 2 part mold this was! (Done for NewRuleFX). Swipe to the 3rd photo to see how much silicone it took to pour just one side. Managed to save some material by pouring and curing just above the high point(the area with clean clay blocking vents), adding a little dam wall, pouring up just that area, and back filling the rest of the mold with rigid foam. Here is a prop for a makeshift zombie weapon done at Newrulefx. I molded, painted, and fabricated from productions premade hero prop. Body and blade handles are foam, blades were laser cut from a flexible plastic.

Here is a prop for a makeshift zombie weapon done at Newrulefx. I molded, painted, and fabricated from productions premade hero prop. Body and blade handles are foam, blades were laser cut from a flexible plastic.

For quick out of kit bruises I aim towards subtly, without the use of prosthetics I combine bruise tones with the natural skin as highlight to create a believable swollen look without going so dark that it looks fake(typically trauma with such intense bruising comes along with massive swelling), mix in a little acting in the 2nd photo and you can see straight on how the injured side of the face looks subtly/believably swollen. In the 3rd photo we step back a little and you can see the bottom of the bruise is even lighter as to avoid a bruise ring while bringing more attention to the swollen area. and allows the bruising above to appear darker in contrast. By no means is this my best bruise nor the only way to do such a bruising but it’s all about being a perpetual student to the process. Hope y’all enjoyed this little breakdown.
