*This photo was taken this afternoon. After Friday nights protests and getting vandalized we boarded up our windows. Getting there today and this is what we were met with. Not a paid artist but someone using their art to do what they can for their community. Thank you @N.marie.morales One of the many reasons we love Oakland* We were excited to open up our new spot. Our grand opening was pushed back in the beginning days of covid when they banned gatherings of 500 or more(we w...ere coordinating our grand opening with 13th street’s block party). The block party was postponed a month and that just gave us another month to get ready, or so we thought... Fast forward to now and the uncertainty that all restaurants face. Seems crazy to even try to get a new one up and running. Oakland Street Food is on 13th and Broadway, right in the center of the protests. We appreciate people checking on us and the restaurant. The material and monetary inconveniences seem so minuscule next to the bigger picture. We are sickened, saddened, angered and grieving. We will clean up, rebuild, and recover. An economic blow is trivial next to the fact that George Floyd will never breathe again. #blacklivesmatter See more
