Oakland Music Complex

It is with great sadness that I must announce I am no longer a part of The Oakland Music Complex. I put my heart and soul into those studios to make the place the best I could, but, I guess it wasn't enough. I can't disclose any reasons why I was let go. Ultimately, I think it was related to Covid-19. I don't know if any of the FB pages or the 3 1/2 year wait list I developed will be maintained. As far as I know, if you just pay your rent, everything will more or less be fine.... The store is now closed and I thank everyone who dropped by to hang out and the awesome people who put in time to be there. Feel free to post any comments on the FB pages or send emails to [email protected] with any comments or statements you wish to make. Please DON'T send anything to [email protected]. These will surely be overlooked. Perhaps as this door closes, another one will open. Unfortunately, because of the nature of my work, I can't collect unemployment insurance. This will make things especially hard and I will need to scramble to find some kind of job. However, I have a new record coming out in 2 weeks, so hopefully, I can sell a few copies and digital downloads to pay my rent. I know I'm being optimistic, but what else can I do? I do recommend that you come by the studio Monday night to pick up any gear that you can play at home.

At this time, The Oakland Music Complex will remain open. However, because the city has requested a shelter in place order, it is requested that you please come to the studio as necessary to get what you need. However, no policy to prevent you from being at OMC will be enforced. If you are sick with anything, please stay home. Just stay home. Because of the mandate, my office hours will be limited to an as needed/on-call basis. Please call or email to make arrangements before coming to the studio to discuss whatever you need to discuss. If you haven't heard, OMC now has an in-house guitar tech who has replaced Rob Brown. If you need some work done on your guitar, check out: Voltaic Stringed Instrument Repair, Studio #208. OFFICE HOURS ARE CHANGING! For the summer months, the office hours of OMC will change to evening hours, from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM Monday through Thursday. 5:00 - 8:00 Friday.

LEAVE YOUR DOGS AT HOME! I am always amazed how musicians don't think about their dogs and their dogs' hearing and try to bring them to band practice. As a gene...ral rule, I do not allow dogs at OMC specifically because it is too loud in these rooms for dogs. We do honor the request for service dogs if necessary. If you have to wear earplugs to practice, sure as shit it is too loud for your dog who has way more sensitive hearing than you. You might think your dog loves your music, and maybe he does, but that doesn't mean the sound levels are not hurting him. Be good to your pets. Leave them at home when you come to rehearse.
