Oakhurst Orcas Swim Team 07.11.2020

The Oakhurst Orca Swim Team is pleased to offer an amazing opportunity for our swimmers to return to the water during this stressful and difficult time. As mentioned in our previous message we will be offering an Orca Pod summer swim camp experience. The biggest difference for this 3 week swim camp will be the protocol for entry and exit. Please see documention on our website for specific explanations of our protocols. Our first 3-week camp will begin June 15th and run until ...Continue reading

Hi Orca Family, Your coaches and advisory board are working diligently to prepare for Orca Swim Camp. As you are well aware, guidelines change hourly! We are doing everything possible to provide a great experience for your swimmer while keeping safety the very top priority. It’s our hope to have a spot for everyone that wants to swim, but with current size restrictions that may not be possible. In addition to limits of 12 swimmers per camp, assistant coaches are also restric...ted to working with only one cohort of swimmers per camp session. We also have to prepare for the possibility of the pool opening up to members later in the summer. For these reasons, sign ups will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Any mail in registrations previously received are void. An email with all the details about camp and a new registration process will be sent on Sunday, June 7 at 7pm. Please read it carefully and feel welcome to reach out if you have any questions. The owners of Oakhurst are supposed to approve our fee schedule today. There is a chance this might not happen. If this is the case, an email will still go out on Sunday at 7pm with as much information as we can provide. Thank you for your flexibility, patience and support. We are so excited to start swimming together on June 15th. Our season and structure may look different, but our Orca Pride will remain the same. Bleed Green! Kristy Smith

Hi Orca Family! I hope this message finds you and your loved ones happy and healthy. I miss you and I look forward to seeing all of you on the pool deck sometime this summer. While this season will look very different than years past, I am hopeful we will be able to make something work. Jasmine and I have been working diligently behind the scenes and are working with the Contra Costa Health Department. Your child's safety is our number one concern and we will operate in full... compliance with regulations. Swimming pools are listed in Stage Three openings. We will update you as soon as we know more specifics. While we are all waiting, the coaches want you to know how much they love and miss you! Our coaches will be "splashing" through the community over the next week to leave you messages showcasing Orca Pride. We are using addresses from current registrations. I know many of you haven't registered because of the unknow situation. If you are planning on being part of the Orca Family, respond to the email with your address. Please communicate with me no later than Sunday, May 24 to be included in the fun! Bleed Green! Kristy Smith

Orca Families I hope that you are all in good health, safe, and surrounded by love. Due to the continued mandated shelter in place we are still on standby of when we can officially start swim season practices. But the good news is that since we are a private club with smaller overall numbers, we should be able to get back in the water safely sooner rather than later. In the meantime, your 2020 coaches are doing everything we can to be creative with how our upcoming swim ...season can be run with immense Orca Pride safely and efficiently. We look forward to seeing everyone hopefully sometime in May. There is still and opportunity do some online shopping and purchase swimsuits, swim caps, backpacks, towels, and parkas through Zumo. The Zumo online store is continuing to stay Open through our team website. Our New Orca Pride apparel for everyone created by Aviva is also still available. If you haven’t already checked it out, they offer t-shirts, tank tops, hoodies, polos, hats, etc. which are a great way for everyone to display our Orca Pride at practice, meets, and out in our community. Aviva online store is also continuing to stay Open through our team website. I would love to see continued Orca Pride in full force this entire season. It has taken a lot of love, support, and pride for us to get here. Let’s make this 2020 season the best one yet! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I am here to support you always! We are in this together! Take care of yourself and your family! I miss all of you and send my love! Hugs & High-Fives, Head Coach Jasmine Castillo
