Northwood (Irvine) Little League 03.07.2021

Northwood Little League lost a valuable member of its community this week. We are sad to share the news of the unexpected passing of our former president Jeremy Goldman. Jeremy was an inspiration and a mentor to many, and many people joined the league and the board through his tireless efforts. He will truly be missed. He is survived by his wife Debra, and his three children Braden, Dylan and Makena. Braden and Dylan both played in NWLL through the Majors division. Makena cou...ld often be found in the stands with her mom watching her brothers play and her dad coach. The league will be honoring Jeremy's memory and contribution in different ways, to be announced later. In the meantime, if you are so moved, you can help by contributing to the Jeremy Goldman Memorial Fund which will benefit his kids' college 529 plans. More info can be found here: https://is.gd/qo3iR9. Jeremy's memorial service was held via Zoom and Facebook Live and can be found here: https://fb.watch/1Usmuy6Rmt/. Jeremy had a hugely positive impact on a lot of players throughout his time in NWLL. If you have a favorite quote, story or photo of Jeremy to share, please send it to [email protected]. We'd love to compile them into something to be shared with the Goldman family.

Northwood Little League, home of the 1987 Little League World Series U.S. Champions, is excited to announce the opening of pre-registration for the 2021 Spring Season. Come play baseball with other Irvine kids! Our games and practices are at local Irvine fields, and players are on teams with neighborhood buddies and school friends. Right now we are only offering pre-registration to help with the planning of the season. Based on current guidance from the State of California an...d the City of Irvine, the Spring 2021 season will begin as a practice only season. If conditions change we will revisit this decision and keep you informed. Pre-registration gives you access to our early bird registration discount - there will be no early bird discount otherwise offered once full registration opens. We welcome players of many ages and skill levels, from 3 1/2 year old boys and girls learning the game in Tee Ball to 13 and 14 year old experienced ball players in our upper divisions. Our Challengers Division enables boys and girls with physical and mental challenges to also enjoy the game of baseball in a safe and supporting environment. Great news this past weekend! Based on updated guidance from the state of California, many youth sports including baseball will be allowed to resume competition once their county has reached certain new testing criteria. This means that with current trends in Orange County, games could be allowed as early as 2/26. You can read about the updated guidance here: https://www.cdph.ca.gov//outdoor-indoor-recreational-sport. NWLL is still in the process of forming our lower divis...ion teams, but all signs are pointing to a full resumption of competition later in March, with some modified procedures and protocols in place due to the ongoing pandemic. We are excited for our players and our families to get back on the field with real games to be played! If your player is league age 8 or younger, there is still time to register but spots are filling up fast. Don't delay in securing your spot this season!

It's not too late to register for our spring season! Teams are forming now. We accept buddy requests in our A Ball, Rookie and Tee Ball divisions, so come and play with your neighborhood friends and classmates. Once teams are formed, buddy requests can not be guaranteed and will be determined by available team slots. Reserve your spot on a team today! Based on current guidance from the State of California and the City of Irvine, the Spring 2021 season will begin as a practic...e only season. Games will be allowed when Orange County returns to the red tier on the State's tiered system for COVID test and case rates. We will monitor developments and keep you informed. https://nwllbaseball.sportngin.com/register/form/003940191

NWLL Families, Opening Day is here! We can't wait to see our players on the field in their uniforms to kick-off the season! CHALLENGER GAME There's no better way to start the season than to support the County's strongest Challenger division. The Senior Rangers will take the field at 8:00am - arrive early to cheer them on!... ARRIVAL AND PARKING Please keep in mind that parking will be a challenge with over 500 players and families in Northwood Little League, so plan accordingly and arrive early. You will be allowed to park on Viewpark (park side only) for the day, at Hicks Canyon Elementary, and in the Albertson’s parking lot. Families will check in with their teams at 10:00am on the back side of Field 2. The parade lineup with be oldest teams to smallest teams (so the littles spend less time sitting on the field). You will see a sign on the fence with your division. PARADE AND CEREMONY Players should wear full uniform. Yes, it will be cute! But please don't follow your player onto the field for photos. We have a photographer who will capture each team under the balloon arch and we will make those photos available to you after Opening Day. Only the manager, assistant coaches, and team parent will join the team for the parade and ceremony. Please bring your beach/camping chairs. We will do our best to keep the parade and ceremony short. We have 44 teams in our League! So you can expect to be sitting for a bit. GEAR SWAP Do you have extra bats hanging around in your garage? Bring them! We will be doing a gear swap and any gear that isn't swapped will be donated. Gear Swap will take place in front of Field 1. RAFFLE We will have a series of raffles throughout the season, but we're kicking off the first one with some super cool prizes. Raffle tickets are $5 a piece or $20 for 5. Enter for a chance to win Apple Airpods, tuition to OC Riptide's summer baseball camp, a hitting lesson at Chapman Baseball Compound, NWLL Spirit Wear pack (hat, custom shirt, car decal), Dick's gift cards, and a lunch with Irvine City Councilmember Anthony Kuo! NWLL Umpire training!

Northwood (Irvine) Little League 08.09.2020

After growing up and playing in Northwood Little League for many years, one former Northwood player decided to give back to his league! Joseph Harper, who was on the NW and TOC champion Saints last spring, and his friend Ryan Kesler, a Northwood High School student, contributed four brand new helmet racks to NWLL for their Eagle Scout projects. They spent a total of 96 man-hours on their project. Joseph recruited a number of Northwood alums to help paint the racks, including Stephen Dee, Jack Brucker, Michael Deming, Colin Carlson, Lex Ni and Jacob Harper. The city of Irvine has graciously agreed to install the racks in the Hicks Canyon dugouts. Joseph is a great example of the leadership and community that Little League is known for. We are so thankful to Joseph, Ryan, the entire Harper family, and everyone involved with the project!
