Despite of the poor quality research behind the assertion, nuts (including peanuts, which aren't truly nuts) are good for us just based on the nutrients they contain, with a few important caveats. As the article mentions, when peanuts are turned into commercial peanut butter, these products often contain a fair amount of added sugar (and sometimes less-healthy oils). The same can be true with other, actual, nut butters: read the labels! The concern the article didn't emphasize is that just because nut butters are healthy does not give them an "eat as much as you want" pass. Yes, the fats they contain are healthy fats, and yes they contain important minerals, fiber, and protein, but they're packed with calories. A very small handful can deliver a couple hundred calories!
