We are a non-classroom based charter school as well. There there are a number of misconceptions regarding how we operate. This is the first in a series of myth vs. fact posts that we will be sharing so that people will better understand what we do.
If you love chocolate, please consider purchasing some amazing See's candy to help us with things like graduation ceremonies and student rewards. Thank you!!! https://www.yumraising.com/secure/northernucs_nucs49/candy
Here is a great resource that we wanted to share with you all! TEEN LINE is a non-profit, community based organization that provides emotional support to youth. It is their mission to provide peer based education and support before problems become a crisis, using a national hotline, community outreach and online support.
Happy Earth Day! We celebrated with a park clean up at Mount Shasta City Park with our students today!
Thank you so much to Desserts On Us, Inc. and Cypress Grove for their generous contributions to our teacher appreciation basket! It was a hit!
02/12/2021 Last night, on February 11th, the NUCS Board approved revised reopening criteria https://bit.ly/2NreCuU. This criteria becomes effective once all staff who would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine are fully vaccinated. The new reopening criteria allows for opening facilities to cohort groups when certain conditions are met. Cohorts mean smaller, stable groups of students that meet on select days during the week. These smaller groups would allow for appropriat...e social distancing in classrooms. The configuration of the cohorts and the days on which they meet will differ between learning centers depending on the size of local facilities, staffing levels and grade spans. Prior to opening, you will receive specific information from your child’s teacher with learning center specific details about the reopening plan, as well as a plan for training families on COVID-19 related protocols and procedures. The revised Board approved reopening criteria follows the most recent guidance by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Click here https://bit.ly/3d5jOiI for the full guidance and here https://bit.ly/2N4FBfH for a summary. Among the changes to the NUCS reopening criteria are: -Grades TK through 6 - reopening may happen even if the county is in the purple tier. -Grades 7 through 12 - reopening may only happen when the county is in the red tier. The guidance from CDPH has several requirements for reopening, including having our plan approved by both the county office and the local health department. We are actively working on putting all of the requirements into place. Our hope is that by March 29 we may resume in-person instruction. It is important to note that our reopening timeline is contingent on the supply and availability of the COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you, Shari Lovett Director Northern United Charter Schools
