NORTH STATE MODIFIEDS COMPETE AT MADERA MAY 8 Race number two of The North State Modified Series, presented by Protect the Harvest, will be held on May 8 at Central California’s Madera Speedway. This event will be a tape delayed race for the Madera Racing Series on MAVTV. It is the first of a three-race series sponsored by Mission Foods, and the local Mission Modified drivers have been invited to join the open-engine NSMS modifieds. Terry Deal of Economy Heating and Air h...as added to the purse and will pay the top three finishing 602 crate engine modified drivers a bonus of $750, $500 and $250 over and above their payout. Plus the top ten finishing drivers not in the NSMS points will receive $100 tow money (the tow money is for crate, and non crate engine drivers). The 2020 NSMS races at Madera Speedway were both canceled due to COVID 19. Restrictions are now lifted enough to allow spectators at this event, and tickets maybe purchased on-line at racemadera.com. Previous North State Modified winners at Madera include Tripp Gaylord, driving for Mike Garcia Racing out of Lodi (2015), Jason Philpott of Sacramento and Darrin Knight of Kelseyville (2016), Matt Hicks driving for PJ Pedroncelli of Sonoma (2017), Cameron Austin from Santa Rosa (2018), and Medford, Oregon driver Randy Houston (2019). The current track record of 15.005 seconds was set by Scott Winters of Tracy on August 3, 2019. Kyle Tellstrom of Ukiah leads the NSMS points battle with his win at Shasta Speedway last month. Winters is running second in points with Lakeport’s Ian Elliott third, Keith Bloom of Redding fourth and Pedroncelli fifth. Rounding out the top 10 in points are Charlie Collins and Mike Neilson both from Lakeport, Rich Cobb from Klamath Falls, Oregon, Foryst Souza of Modesto and Cameron Austin. AUSTIN WINS LEHMAN CLASSIC... TELLSTROM CROWNED NSMS CHAMPION Stockton, CA October 24, 2020. The 2020 grand finale’ for the North State Modified Series (NSMS), presented by Protect the Harvest, was held at Stockton 99 Speedway Saturday with 21 cars and drivers on hand to compete in the inaugural Bob Lehman Classic.
