This is a case of young patient with both conditions who really wanted her painful toes to look normal. Brachymetatarsia can be a debilitating condition that prevents patients from being able to walk and run without pain. Two surgical options are single surgery to place a bone block graft with plate fixation vs. gradual callus distraction osteogenesis with mini-rail external fixation. This patient is an amazing patient who is doing very well with callus distraction to get the metatarsal and toe out to length to decrease her painful foot parabola. Saturday morning trauma surgery. When the limb is too swollen and there are fracture blisters present, stabilizing with a delta frame is always a great option. In my experience, incorporating foot stabilization is key to the success of the construct.
