Here is a fun video we created for our virtual WASC accreditation visit. The talent behind the camera was our own Mistee Gutierrez. Enjoy! https://drive.google.com//1VlykPMtufTyWK1JKah2X9ZJ1x/view

Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 27, 2021, the NSA Resource Center will be closed due to the predicted weather event. All students will work independently under parent supervision at home. This is a great opportunity to complete assignments that are not offered in your classes. Please refer to your AWR, assignment sheet for specifics. Teachers and administration will be working from home. You can contact your teachers and administration using their school emails, Google Classr...oom, or Odyssey Ware messaging. If students or parents experience power outages, do the best you can with your texts and paper assignments. Just in Case Writing Assignment - "How to Make the Best of a Power Outage". Illustrations can embellish your writing. Please prepare tonight by filling containers of water, make sure you have what you need for warmth and food, ensure your pets have shelter and will be warm and dry. The public services have taken steps to safeguard public safety, but, if the roads are covered in snow and ice it is best to stay home. We plan on being back in the center on Thursday. If we have to continue working and learning from home after tomorrow, you will hear from us. Stay safe. Julia Knight, [email protected]

Greetings to Everyone! We hope each one of you is healthy and enjoying the winter break. We have a few updates and reminders to post today. 1. We are opening our waiting list for independent study students in grades 3-11 only. At this time, we do not have the capacity to enroll new seniors or K-2 children. Enrollment will be limited, informational orientation meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, and for Tuesday, December 29. Both will start at 11:30. 2. NWE...A assessments are scheduled for January 4-11. If you do not have a scheduled time, call the office and we will help you. 338-1399, today 12/22, 12/23, and 12/29. Another option is to email your Teacher of Record. 3. The fall semester ends on January 15, 2021. Please make sure all assigned work is completed and turned in to school. 4. We really cannot predict events in our COVID-related world. Please, follow the health department guidelines, keep your distance from people, wear a mask when you go out, wash your hands frequently, eat well, drink water, and get plenty of sleep. 5. If you have any COVID like symptoms or are tested, please quarantine per the health department instructions on https://www.co.shasta.ca.us/ready/covid-19/overview. 6. We currently have 43 seniors. Soon we will be looking into how we can celebrate their rapidly approaching graduations. Thank you for all your hard work during these annoying times. None of us bargained for the back and forth between being in the center and not being here. The staff is anxious to have the center full and running as intended. We are guessing that things might be complicated for the rest of this school year. We are hopeful that the 2021 Lassen Camping Trip will be the community building, smores-eating, hiking experience we all need so badly!

SB 820 was heard on the Assembly floor today and passed overwhelmingly on a vote of 55-13. Only Republicans Kevin Kiley and Jay Obernolte spoke against the exclusion of nonclassroom-based charter schools from growth funding. Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan Happy Weekend Everyone, We are creating our Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan. Many people were able to participate in our COVID/Distance Learning trainings where I asked for suggestions for how we can better serve our students' educational needs during these COVID challenges. I am sending this Facebook Post out so everyone has an opportunity to contribute ideas. Stakeholders (students, parents, community members, board, and ...staff) are who contribute the ideas and efforts that enable our school to continue to grow in size and most importantly, quality. We need to hear from you regarding how we can support the educational needs of our students in grades TK-12. Please, identify specific needs of any specific groups of students; low income, foster, English Learners, disabled, and/or certain grades. We are required to hold 2 public hearings on the plan before the board approves the final document. The dates and times of the meetings will be posted at the center and on our website. Participation will be allowable in person, with masks and distancing, as well as by ZOOM. Please send your ideas and suggestions to my email, [email protected] Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

The Governor's new budget has significantly cut funding to schools. Due to the COVID-19, all schools face increased expenses for cleaning, distance learning technology, Personal Protection Equipment, and increased staffing. We need funding restored so that our children will not pay an educational price during this very challenging time. Signing this petition will take very little time but could yield so much for our children. Thank you. https://sign.moveon.org//restore-per-pupil-funding-for-all
