Update on the CARD DeGarmo park public input phase: Nearly 200 people have completed the surveys with "Roller Hockey Rink" as a write it! Let's keep up the momentum! They have 1 more in-person session, Monday evening. Several hockey families attending sessions today and it's really fun! You literally get to "design" the 14 acre park. They are VERY interested in the input of kids under 18 AND families that live within 1/2 mile of this particular park. Everyone, regardless of address, should complete the survey, and encourage your friends and neighbors too! Have every member of your family complete it--it's important for them to see many age groups represented. Let's show Chico how big the hockey community is! Hockey Friends!!! CARD is writing a grant to complete the final 14 acres of DeGarmo park. One feature we have talked with them about is moving the hockey rink there, and you have the chance to weigh in on this and the other features they will include. PLEASE fill out the survey ASAP, and write in "Roller Hockey Rink" as a feature! CARD will be able to use the rink for lots of other sports and activities and we can have youth, adult, and Chico State hockey right in town. This is an awesome opportunity for us to get some fresh new park amenities AND bring the rink to Chico!!! (Note: this grant comes from Prop 68 which passed a few years ago. It's not anything new or on this current ballot...the money is reserved for California public parks to make improvements, so we have a very good chance of getting this $).

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TODAY! While we have been tirelessly looking for a new location to move our rink and continue to grow our local hockey community, we have been notified of a potential opportunity that we can capitalize on if we can get enough community support. CARD is applying for a grant to complete the remaining 14 undeveloped acres of DeGarmo Park. The NV Hockey Board has been in discussion with CARD about the potential to move our rink to this location and they are ...very interested in this possibility. The more people that can be vocal for the community need for this facility, the higher likelihood that the funds would be used for it. Step 1: Please take 10 minutes out of your day and fill out this DeGarmo Park Grant Opportunity Survey! It should be completed ASAP. IMPORTANT!!!!! Burpees, sit ups, pushups - get ready to move the body! 2) Skills Challenge - Coach Jon will post a video and bring you through a skills challenge that you will video and score. Stick handling, shooting, it's all game! 3) Fun Challenge - Each day a guest will post a video of a fun challenge. You and your team will video the challenge and post in the Facebook feed. Trick shots, chirps, cellys - it'll be fun. Details: Challenges will be emailed to athletes and posted in the group each morning at 9am est. In the email will be a link to a Google Form where you will submit your official score. You will also need to make sure you have video evidence to win. Challenges close at 7pm est.
