Today we delivered to our Napa and Lake County NBCC students their supplies for the hands-on challenges they will participate in during the first half of the NBCC meetings. Wood for framing; a screwdriver and Romex to wire up an electrical box; examples of copper, pvc and Pex for plumbing; a tape measure and speed square - all things to allow them to gain basic but foundational construction skills. We are making the most out of the pandemic restrictions and have more than sixty students eager to learn more about the numerous opportunities available on our industry. #ctefoundationsonomacounty #CentralValley #kelseyvillelumber

Great news!!! The CTE Foundation’s tiny home is found! A HUGE thank you to NCBE member Kelseyville Lumber for their help in retrieving and securely storing the tiny home until we can bring it home. This home was built by our own North Bay Construction Corps students a few years ago, and we hope to build a few more this year. So much gratitude goes to Redwood Credit Union and our local contractor community for the incredible support. And a HUGE shout out to the Lake County resident who saw the home and called the Sheriff.

THANK YOU to our good friends at Mead Clark for donating speed squares and measuring tapes for the North Bay Construction Corps program. (They even wheeled them to the car for me!) This will allow our students to do hands on activities at home until we can meet in person. #meadclark

We really miss seeing our NCBE members in person and look forward to more face-to-face time when allowed in 2021! Even though our doors are closed during the pandemic, NCBE staff is working as hard as ever to bring our members excellent benefits such as our group health and workers compensation insurance programs, our online plan room, our excellent group legal program and tireless industry advocacy. We continue to bring new workers into our local construction companies through our North Bay Construction Corps program which will kick-off in January with a whole new class of young people wanting to explore the tremendous career opportunities available in construction. Applications now open for grants up to $25,000! California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program The State of California has a new grant opportunity available for small businesses and nonprofits.... The amount of grant funding ranges from $5,000 to $25,000. Businesses are eligible based on their annual revenue as documented in their most recent tax return. This is not a first-come, first-served grant. Important information from Sonoma County EDB regarding Small Business Stabilization Grants.

THIS MAY BE HELPFUL TO NCBE MEMBERS. Sonoma County Small Business Stabilization Grant Program On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved the allocation of $2.5 million dollars from federal CARES Act funding received by the County to put towards a local Business Stabilization Grant Program.... In partnership with Working Solutions, a Bay Area CDFI, small businesses in Sonoma County with between 1 and 30 employees will be able to apply for grants of $2,500 to $15,000 in Covid-19 relief funding to use towards expenses including payroll, utilities, rent or mortgage expenses. Our NCBE Scholarship Program awards thousands of dollars of scholarships every year to students affiliated with NCBE member owners and employees, and also to students pursuing a career in construction. Students still want a career in construction and companies still need construction workers. The North Bay Construction Corps aims to bridge the path for our students so they can explore and learn basic skills and ultimately get hired in an entry-level position. The 2020 class graduated from the program last Friday. Here are some comments about our NBCC students that were placed with construction companies this summer for a two-week temporary placement and on the job trainin...g: "Brian was exceptional in all areas.
