In 1993, Kevin Asano was inducted into the United States Judo Federation Hall of Fame for his great accomplishments and legacy. Kevin Asano is a retired judoka ...from the United States, who won the silver medal in the men’s extra-lightweight competition at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He is also a member of USA Judo's Hall of Fame (2008), Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame (2000), the San Jose State University Sports Hall of Fame(2000), and the US Olympic Committee's US Judo Athlete of the Year (1988). He is the head instructor of Leeward Judo Club, a board member of 50th State Judo Association, the president of Hawaii Judo, Inc. and former president of the United States Judo Federation. The United States Judo Federation would like to acknowledge and thank him for all that he has done for the judo community. Keiko Fukuda (April 12, 1913 February 9, 2013) is the highest ranking female judoka, holding the rank of 9th dan from the Kodokan (2006), and 10th dan from USA Judo (July 2011) and from the United States Judo Federation (USJF) (September 2011). She was also the last surviving student of Professor Kano Jigoro, the founder of judo. At the age of 24, she was personally invited by Professor Kano to study judo at the Kodokan. After earning her degree, she travelled to the United States and shared her judo knowledge throughout her lifetime. She is a pioneer of judo and a major proponent and renowned teacher of kata.
