SFMTA is working to speed up the 24 Divisadero as the City reopens, in order to prevent crippling traffic congestion that would hinder the successful return of our local economy. Their plan is to implement left turn restrictions along most of Divis. This will improve pedestrian safety as well, since motorist left turns are one of the leading causes of pedestrian injury and death (source: VisionZeroSF.org). Not so fun fact: (pre-covid), the speed of the 24 between Geary and Waller during afternoon rush-hour was a paltry *5 mph*. The faster the bus moves, the higher the frequency of bus service since the bus can run through its route more times during a shift. Check out their online "open house", very informative 5min video, and opportunity to share public comment here: www.sfmta.com/24divisproject

You may have noticed some fresh new green bike boxes on Divisadero Street! You may be wondering ... what is a bike box, and how do you use it? A bike box is a green space designated for people on bikes to wait for red lights. It is positioned at the front for improved visibility and safety for all road users. If you’re in a car, wait behind the green box - even if you don’t see any bikes at the moment. ... If you’re riding, pull all the way up in the bike lane and wait in the green box. When the light turns green, proceed across the intersection and back into the bike lane.

Extra extra! Sign up at sf.gov/vaccinenotify to get notified when you are eligible to receive the covid-19 vaccine. Here is some detailed info from Sup Preston's office, and we will share more when the City of SF has centralized testing sites and information set up.... It is critical that everyone possible in San Francisco get vaccinated as soon as it is their turn. It is not mandatory, but vaccinating most people is will stop COVID-19 from mutating and continuing to impact o...ur world. Information is constantly changing, and we suggest checkinghttps://sf.gov/covid-19-vaccine-san-francisco for updates in between my updates! Attached is also more detailed information on vaccine safety, efficacy and who should not take the vaccine. Right now, we are in Phase 1a, which means all healthcare workers and long-term care residents who are living congregately. We are also moving into part of 1b, meaning that anyone about 65 years of age is eligible for the vaccine. Please note 1b includes hundreds of thousands of people and that we are waiting for the vaccine from the State and Federal government so we can reach everyone. The next folks in 1b that we will expand into are those at risk of exposure at work in education and childcare, emergency services and food and agriculture. Right now, we do not have enough vaccine for mass testing sites, but those will be set up as soon as we receive a shipment. Unfortunately, we have not received a timeline on the arrival of further vaccine, though it is coming. You can learn about future prioritization groups here: https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccines/
